When we lived in Laramie this is a trip we took frequently. We camped on occasion at Libby Flats, It was cold even in the summer! Smiling

The way the trees are shaped led me to believe the wind must really blow all the time. I cannot imagine camping up there.

It was really beautiful country and a fun ride over the peaks. I found it on a map, am not sure just why/how I was looking in the area. Serendipity I guess. The town sounded interesting and it was. May have to go back mid summer, to really see some more of the area.

It was always cold and you never went without warm coats. There were areas up on top that there was still snow at the end of the summer. But we were young and probably didn't have much sense.

If you go in the summer and go through Cenntenial and up to Sugar Loaf on the top, that was my most favorite place in the Snowies. We would climb way up on top and I don't know if I could do it now, but there were plants up there I didn't see anywhere else in all our trips through the Mountains, and we lived in Laramie for 18 years and had use of a cabin for a number of years so we spent a lot of time there.

I think that was the route we took. It was marked Snowy Range Scenic Byway. A cabin would be protection against the bone chilling cold winds I hope.

The cabin was just above the University of Wyo's science camp if you remember seeing that. But before we had the cabin to use we did a lot of camping out and it was always soooo cold by morning. But the fishing was good in the river and the little streams. We spent a lot of time fishing for brook trout and hiking. That's when I fell in love with wildflowers. There are so many beautiful ones there!

Saw only a few wildflowers, thought we got some good shots but they did not turn out at all.
I was thinking I should have tried to identify some of the trees. Some were easily recognized but others needed a reference book.

I'm not very good at trees either and it might have been late for the wildflowers when you were there and that's why you didn't see many. Some of the gentians might have been blooming but you might have to do some off road and hiking to find them.

Marilyn, I so enjoyed the photo trip. What beautiful country to explore. It is seldom in today's busy life that we get the chance to experience the kind of silence you found in those lovely wild areas. It is an amazing thing. Group hug
