Lindsey (Sugarcane)... I just now saw your request for a name on your orange double.

With 60,000 named dayliles there is just no way to know for SURE what any no ID is. If you have a receipt from the person you got the plants from, often we can help match up names to flowers... you indicate this was given to you last fall. Does the person who gave it to you know what it is?

I would not attach a name to it unless you are sure you know what it is. Photos can be so deceiving it is almost impossible to ID a daylily from one.

My advice is just enjoy it - mark the tag Unknown ID orange double. Smiling

What nice healthy foliage you havfe Nicole. Paper Butterfly is just a nice one. I read somewhere that it was considered very unique when it first came out. Wonder if it was because of the pattern of the eye?

Thanks Susan. I belive it's Sorento's Song is in the forefront, with buds getting ready to open. I thought the colors were very pretty. I had planned on planting them next to Siloam Double Classic. I had so many that I did half there in the other bed and half in this bed. The flowers are pretty good size. Bought it at flea market in Alabama last year. A BIG bagful of them for $8. My friend and I split them.

A close up of Paper Butterfly.

I don't think that is Paper Butterfly. If it is, I have never seen it with petals so flat. And, its background color is lighter. The eye looks a bit to dark, and I have never seen a dark edge on it.

I have not grown it for a while, so this photo is from back when digital cameras were just coming out -- the quality is not that great, but notice how the petals curl up or "canoe" ?

Nichole - I just looked to see if Paper Butterfly was pictured anywhere else in the cubit - and saw that you posted it here... which looks like the correct one...

I see you live in Atlanta --- I have never seen PB growing south of KY so... perhaps it does flatten out down there?

Jules,
Thanks for your note above. I got the plants from Brent and Becky Heath, Brent and Becky's Bulbs, where I used to work.
They were actually interplanted with tradescantia and that's what I thought the entire clump was! I now live 3 1/2 hours away
so I don't get to see them except for a couple of times a year. They are both busy with their business and lectures not to mention
their HUGE gardens. I will take pictures with me next time I'm there and see if they remember the plant.

Beautiful blooms, everyone. I'll post some of my DLs tonight. They're really starting to pop and Leonard Bernstein always stands out in the pack!
