Rolling on the floor laughing I know, right? It's easily taking up half of one of my vegetable drawers! Hilarious! We'll have to eat half of it tonight. Big Grin

What do you do with them? I was going to use mine in soups, like I use turnips.

I like mine that way, too. I also slice, place on kale or Chinese cabbage leaves, drizzle in olive oil and spices, then wrap in foil for the grill. The leaves provide extra moisture and keep the rutabaga from scorching. Smiling We actually prefer them cooked on the grill, since their stronger flavoring can sometimes overpower a delicate stew.

That sounds like. Good way to cook them. I like them roasted (almost the same) with other root veggies. Mine are still small as I started them late.

DH finished picking the rest of the peppers. About 2 bushel. As soon as the baby gets picked up I'll dig up the rest of the sweet potatoes.

Here's what we ended up with. Hilarious! We decided it was just too good to cook all of it. So...the top portion went in the mix, and the lower end was sliced and eaten raw. Yummmmm! Like having a bit of sweet radish and kohlrabi in the same vegetable. Thumbs up

I didn't go out to the garden and get any big leaves this time... we were experiencing some really wet snow and I just didn't want to. Whistling Everything we had tonight was picked earlier.

I picked some tomatoes again today. Not very many but geez On October 29th it is a wonder to still have any ripe tomatoes to pick. And those Juliet Grape tomatoes I have are still making tomatoes. I pulled the other small tomato plants I had already, the sweet millions and the Sungold. What I great year this has turned out to be for tomatoes.

Do you find them to be much less sweet after they've seen some cold nights?

My 'Stupice' went from tasty to "oatmeal" after just two mights in the low 40s, but my 'Sungold' cherry tomatoes stayed sweet. That was a few years ago, my first home-grown tomatoes.

Truthfully, I had not thought about it but yes, they are less sweet now that you mention it. Still taste very good to me though.

Maybe my 'Stupice' had nothing going for them in the flavor department except spme sweetness.

I had wanted to show them off, so I saved some for a friend. She said "are these rotten"

They get a lot of praise for being early and very cold tolerant, but no one ever said "outstanding flavor".
