I moved the last of my plants into the greenhouse last Sunday and Monday. I didn't have the heart to cut back the brugs, as they had loads of buds. Here is my g'house yesterday.

Wow, Anna, those are beautiful. I wouldn't have had the heart to cut them back either. It looks like a tropical paradise!

Arlene, I wish we could grow sweet potatoes here. It just doesn't stay hot enough for long enough. Might try those in the hoop house my neighbor will be sharing with me next year. So far it is in pieces, waiting to be assembled.

The forest service has been doing some controlled burning for the past 2 days. Yesterday the breeze was taking the smoke away from us, but overnight it has settled in, looking like fog now at daylight, and there is no mistake, it is definitely smoke. The sky above the eastern horizon is pinkish gray and if we see the sun, it will be that neon pinkish orange. I hope a breeze takes the smoke back to the mountains.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Wow! Those are beautiful Anna!

Mary, maybe sweet potatoes in a big tub or container in a hoophouse? They do want heat for 90-120 days for sure. Our soil was pretty virgin so lots of heavy clay. We amended large holes when we planted so it seemed a lot grew straight down under the main plant, like huge fingers then in some areas where the soil was not so tight they grew but we have lots of fingerlings.

Hope the smoke drifts back away also.

Yeah, hurray. Bulb planting finished. At least all those bulbs I had here and been working on are done. In ground and planted.

I did break down and make a few new bulb orders these past few days. But nothing much. A few tulips but mostly crocus. And crocus are very easy to plant.

I am tired so need a rest and I guess by then this last bunch of almost 600 bulbs will be here. I hate planting bulbs in November but looks like I will be planting bulbs in November after all.

Wow, that is a lot of planting! I don't know how you can even find space for them all. If I tried to stoop or crawl along digging for that long, I'd never be able to get up again! Congratulations! Next spring ought to be glorious.

Ha-ha Arlene. I have taken the day off and not doing much of anything as I really am tired and want a break from planting. I suppose I could go back to house cleaning but not doing that either, Not today. Just not working today. Slept late and having a lazy day.

The aches and pains never completely go away when I do like I have been doing, which is plant bulbs each day for two weeks straight. And plant a LOT of bulbs. Some days I get more done, some days less but still work on it each day. By the time I am done, I am just worn out. Showing my age of 66 I guess.

So I am glad to have a break for a few days until that last batch that I ordered shows up. Not so bad on that, only 600 instead of thousands.

I planted bulbs in September and October and now will be having some for November too, looks like.
