Susan and Jules: thanks so much for the help with identifying ‘angel wings!’ Seeing a pic and reading Stamile’s definition was a great help. : )
And Jules – though I’m only rarely a fan of doubles, is your exquisite pink seedling a ‘hose-in-hose?’ It’s gorgeous!
And, by the way, having once again leafed through Petit’s and Peat’s ‘The Color Encyclopedia of Daylilies’ I was once again struck by how very many supposedly pink daylilies have a pic that looks decidedly peachy to me. I’ve noticed elsewhere on two different forums discussions about how soil PH may affect the color, and can only hope that in the future there will be more definition about what affects this phenomenon. (I happen to like peach tones a great deal. It’s just that I’d like to have a little more variety than my garden currently is providing.)
Susan, I too hope the egret comes back. : ) For that matter, I also hope that Kirby will be otherwise occupied (perhaps asleep in the house), so that I can get more pics of that elegant bird. : ) Thanks, too, for the good words about the view. I attempted not to compete with it through the daylily bed, hence chose pastels that would blend together well. I’ve plenty of family members and friends who’ll want a closer look at what’s blooming, and who may enjoy the subtlety.
Have a great weekend, everyone! Hope it’s more summery than here; we barely got to 62 degrees this PM. I can’t bear to post today’s FFO of Victorian Lace, which is 10 days earlier than last year. This DL , too, is far from being a good opener on cool days. What a summer! Joy, are the temps warming up for you?
