Sunny, mild Tuesday in Denver; city could see snowflakes Friday
By Kieran Nicholson

For the first time this season, snow is in the weather forecast for Denver.

Sunny, mild weather in Denver and along the Front Range on Tuesday and Wednesday should change Thursday as an upper level weather disturbance out of the northwest edges its way into Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.

"Snow is expected to develop in the mountains Thursday night while areas of rain spread across the plains," the weather service reports.

Snow should continue in the mountains Friday. Weather along the Front Range, including Denver, should be cold enough for snow to mix with rain, the weather service said.

In Denver on Tuesday and Wednesday, skies will be sunny and the high temperature should climb into
the upper-70s, according to the weather service.

On Thursday in Denver, however, there's a 10 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, and the high temperature will be about 70 degrees.

On Friday the change in Denver will be pronounced, with a 40 percent chance of rain, and snow showers, before noon. Early morning temperatures in Denver on Friday morning will be in the mid- to upper-30s. The high temperature Friday in the city will be about 48 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The overnight low Friday night could get below freezing in Denver, the weather service said, dipping down to 30 degrees.

Local weather, under sunny skies, should warm up over the weekend with the Denver high climbing back toward 70 by Sunday.

They have some really stunning roses!

Well, when I pretended to order a rose, the shipping options did not include the U.S. Would a quarantine also be required?

The link Toni posted took me to Rosenstadt Freising, which Palatine has been carrying for years. I bought it the first year Palatine started shipping to the United States.

I didn't see that on Palatine's list when I was putting in my order... just went over their entire catalog & didn't see it. Missed it this year. Sad

I think this is the first year they aren't carrying it. It has always been a Palatine staple.

The website certainly is different from the way it looked when I contemplated placing an order on August 31st. They've added lots of new roses to it. I would have ordered Quo Vadis if it had been there earlier.

It is really pretty, and I see a few other roses I might have ordered if they had been there when the ordering season began. I see they've renamed Cream Veranda "Garden of Roses." I wanted that one and Angel Veranda, but they weren't there when I looked earlier.

Zuzu - I know that I've added roses to my order after I ordered & Rachel has always obliged me.

HMF for the rise I'd really like: http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...

One of the Kordes roses I fell in love with was Novalis. Omg!! Then I HMF it.. On, that's Poseidon. Then I found Parole... That one I have as Buxom Beauty.

They're listed as Novalis and Parole in our ATP database, Toni. All of those roses are in our own database, so you don't have to be so dependent on HMF. Smiling

It's not a matter of adding roses to my order. I never even placed an order because they didn't have six of the roses from last year that I wanted to order this year. Now that the site has been updated, two of them are back and a couple of the new ones look nice (Quo Vadis and Sweet Victoria), but I really don't want to place a small order.

I have so many roses that are languishing in the shade. I think I won't buy any more roses until all of my existing roses are planted in good spots. This year I'm going to get rid of a lot of Vintage, Rogue Valley, and Northland Rosarium roses that never grew much beyond band size. They're just taking up good spaces in the sun, and if they haven't flourished in the past 6 or 7 years, there's no reason to expect them to start growing now. I think they're just roses that were never meant to grow on their own roots.

Snow Snow Snow.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Snow Snow Snow! Snowing like hell right now. When I left for work, it was just starting to come down. There's a full covering of snow already and it's not gonna stop for some time. This afternoon's drive is gonna be sloppy. Guess that's it for me for the season. Glare

Got these pictures a couple of days ago. They're all ruined now.

Toni, how did the roses do in the snow? Has the snow melted?
We were supposed to get a severe storm with hail a few nights ago, so I went out and cut bouquets also. Looking at the beautiful bouquets made me resolve to bring flowers in more often.
A funny thing happened last night. I was admiring the blossoms on my Fairy Tale roses, and wondering how many kinds there are, so I googled them. I came up with this site: http://www.treloarroses.com.au... and saw that lavender one, Novalis, and instantly started thinking of how to get it here from Germany or Australia! The 'Renmark's Rose' is another one I decided I had to have. I'm sitting here thinking, who do I know who is going overseas who could bring these back? Could I convince Palatine to get these roses? and other crazy obsessive things. Then, reason kicks back in and i decide to check our database and HMF to see if any nursery or people here have these. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby And what do I find? I find the other names for these roses! Novalis is also known as 'Poseidon', and I have that one ordered from Palatine. Renmark's Rose is Queen of Hearts, and that one is already growing in my yard! Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes. Well at least I'm consistent. *Blush*

A few weeks ago, I bought 'Electric Blanket'. I decided to plant it next to one that looked like it--'Salmon Vigorosa;. Then, as I'm browsing rose catalogs online, I see 'Bad Birnbach' and I have to have it. A little research *Blush* then showed me I already have it...two of them, in fact.
As i update my tags and spreadsheets this winter, I am going to check the names on my roses so I don't do this again! Shrug!
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.

Cindi - Isn't it hilarious how we fall in love with a rose, gotta have it, where can I buy it.. do the research. Oh, already have it. LOLLL

Snow didn't last too long, only about 6-8 hours. But it was a really wet snow, so that's a good thing there. I'm not gonna complain about getting moisture! We need it!! I'm a greedy greedy monkey when it comes to moisture! Even if I get a lot of blackspot, I'll just deal with it. Rather have blackspot than fires!

Went to a couple of nurseries this weekend (ok, well, technically, went to 5) to see what was clearanced out. Made out a like a fat-rat on agastaches, but did find 1 rose clearanced out. He's rather sad looking, but I'll take my chances. I got a DA William Shakespeare 2000 for $10. Can't beat that price! Already buried him up to his eyeballs & mulched the snot outta him, so he's snot free and buried up to his eyeballs.

Sue - I love these cooler colors of the roses... how gorgeous! Mine were in the middle of a flush, then we got snow/frost & killed all the buds. The roses themselves are still doing OK.. in fact, have gotten new growth going (which is bad), but expecting everything to die here this upcoming week as we're to have nights down in the 20s.

Short year this year. Sad

I love the longer-lasting blooms in this season. The rose blooms stay perfect for days and days instead of being burned up by the sun after only a few days.
