Robins are supposed to be here year-round but I usually don't see them in the summer - saw one today though. Also, a goldfinch was checking the tithonia for seed today... sorry little one - not ready yet!
Oh my goodness, they are gorgeous! I look forward to seeing the Robins but they don't arrive down here until January and they stay through February before heading back north. That little Goldfinch is so adorable!
This is the little Palm Warbler we've been seeing a lot of lately:

Here's a big guy that was walking along the waters edge earlier this afternoon. I was in a hurry because we were on our way out to a BBQ but I managed to get one shot.

Thanks ladies! Yes, the BBQ was great ... it was a preseason get together for the basketball team at the university where my husband teaches. We always have pre-season and post season BBQ's ... with lots of good food and spending time with old and new friends.

Still no sign of any birds, little ones are gone now also. it is almost scary like there is a big dome over our house and no birds can get in. Hawk was circling early this morning, that is all.

JB, that is terrible, bad ol hawk! I have had lots of birds, got some photos I need to post, the other morning a Northern Shrike flew into the window, not good for my birds , it sat stunned on the patio and I got a few photos before it flew off.
I didn't see a thread for November birds so I will post this here. I was out in the yard a little while ago and heard this one before spotting it perched on a neighbors deck rail. This is a juvenile (I think) Belted Kingfisher:

Tara: LOL, I just point and shoot. I discard more photo's than I keep. And my photo's look so much clearer when I click on them here on ATP ... I really think it's Dave's magic that makes them look so much better than they are.

Rita: We do have a lot of different types of birds down here. My Florida bird book says the Kingfisher is here year round but I usually only see it from @ October - March and sporadically at that. It's fun to watch them dive head first into the water for a fish and their rattle-like call when in flight is very distinguishable!

We have lots of little Myrtle Warblers (f/k/a Yellow-rumped Warbler) around lately. My Fla. bird book states that they are the most abundant warbler here in Florida during the winter months because of their habit of feeding on fruit of the widely distributed wax myrtle. I haven't seen any wax myrtles around but these things are all over the Bottlebrush tree, Crepe Myrtles, Cypress and Palm trees. They are so fast but I managed to get a couple of photo's when I was outside a few minutes ago.
