They watch the jays and I think they steal their stash, I have 2 suet feeders right now and will add another one once the darn starlings are gone for the winter.
I got this shot of 2 juveniles at the beginning of the month, kept meaning to post it, they were so cute it was the first really cold morning and they were all fluffed up enjoying the morning sun and preening. I was surprised when one took off and it was a yellow shafted, first one I have seen in the 12 years I have lived here, the past couple of years I have been seeing hybrids, those with the red nape and red wing color.
