They get liquid fertlizer(25-5 20) or something close to that every week and watered every other day. I really push them all winter.

Well they really show the extra attention. I could never get that kind of growth here.

I can get almost the same growth rate as the people in Florida, I just don't try to turn them into huge leek type plants with all the extra fertilizers they use. All I want to do is see them bloom as normal size plants the first year.

I cannot even imagine scapes at 6 months. Most of mine took 3 years when I was still doing crosses.

I live in the ideal climate for growing sev or evergreens, most dormants do poorly here, not enough cold hours.

Very nice Fred!! I went outside today (it's about 50 degrees) and I moved back some leaves and guess what I saw... some itty bitty green leaves from a daylily!!! Oh I am so excited.

I see some sedum growing under the leaves and I have a Corral Bell coming up on the south side!!

I know it's still cold up north, we have started shipping and no one from your part of the country wants there daylilies yet. I will have to cut the scapes off some before I get to ship them. 41* this morning, I think this will be our last cool spell, we will be cussing the heat before long.

LOL, your right Fred, We will be cussing the heat pretty soon!!! It was 40 here this morning. Yesterday was miserable. It was really windy along with the cold; too miserable to be outside in it. But at least the daylilies got some rain Monday night at about 10:30pm and lasted until about 2:30am. We lost power for a few hours. There was so much lightening back to back it was like it was daylight. I figured I'd get up to a lot of trees down, but thank goodness we didn't have any fall.

In Bakersfield we've been having temps in the 80's for the last week here and low's in the mid to high 50's -- and now they're predicting rain with a temp drop to the 50's over three days starting tomorrow, with lows back down to 39. So in another few days after that you might be getting another cool spell back east...

I agree Steph the weather is still cold and miserable here and I'm pretty sick of it. Thumbs down I want to go play in the dirt. I hope I haven't lost any plants because of the never ending cold and snow. Sad

Yelp, I think we all had too much of a good thing when it came to snow this past winter.

I completely understand the cussing the heat very soon Fred. It will be hotter than Hell here very soon. Then they will have the Texas Hotter Than Hell 500 Bike Ride. Those people who participate have to be crazy out there peddling a bike in temps over 100 degrees for 500 miles. I'll be sitting in the house with the AC cranked up, sipping something cold, and looking out the windows at whatever is blooming at the time. LOL I will of course take a quick walk of the gardens early each morning and late each evening so I can take photos and not croak in the heat. Rolling on the floor laughing
