It got us good last night...the lowest low of the winter so far, I believe...22.6°. Wonder what's still alive? Everybody should check their Sunday & Monday night forecast. Mine says 25°/23°.

You got about the same as we here in NE Mississippi did. We were 21 F. Sunday night's low is predicted to get down to 17, then 12, and then 17 F again. Neither Monday nor Tuesday will we get out of the 20's for highs. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

We had a freeze last night, chilly today. We should have a slight freeze tonight, but back up to 67° tomorrow! What we do have sticking around now, though, is cedar fever. It doesn't affect me, but my neighbors, friends, and DH are all sneezing, wheezing and coughing. We had some terrific winds a couple of nights ago when a front blew through. It knocks all the pollen off the cedar, or ash juniper, trees. The pollen sticks to everything, including clothes and hair.

We turned the gh heaters on last night, but I think the plants would have been okay without. I left some of my duplicate
tropicals out in the garden this winter to see if they'd survive. So far, so good. We usually get a killing freeze around the end of January.

Ouch! We're supposed to get down to 24 degrees Tuesday. I think I will finally have to bring somethings in.

Last night it got down to 22.6° here, even though forecast said 25°. Guess the nurseries are going to see a lot of business later on when people realize their plants are dead! I hope my lemongrass makes it, but if not, my friend can probably give me more. Yeah, those two nights/mornings are going to get bad!

Yesterday's paper had an article about Color Star nurseries filing for bankruptcy. They started in Giddings, but also have nurseries in Colorado and Missouri. When I first read it, I thought it was Color Spot! They supply the HD and Lowes here. Looks like Color Star is more a supplier for wholesale nurseries.
With the drought last summer, I know most people didn't want to invest too much in plants. Might be more expensive to buy plants this spring.

Front blew through her this morning. Went from 63 at 7a.m. To 38 at 8a.m. and we have had a 20-30 mph wind all day. Turned the lights on in my greenhouse and found one burned out. Thought I would be fine but when I went out a little while ago it wasn't that warm so I brought out the big guns, a heat lamp. Best $99 I have spent in years, that greenhouse.
Redid the bummer lamb shelter, not much really, just a tarp and thick cardboard sides with a light off the south wall of the house. I just hope my two dairy does that are close hold on to their kids for a couple more days.

We had a similar temperature drop at 9 AM complete with wind. I have been insulating pipes and faucets for the last two days. We have 26 outdoor faucets - unless I forgot one or more... They don't stay protected for long if any of the animals can get to them so wrapping is usually an annual task.

22°/19° forecast for tonight/tomorrow night. I just remembered one February over a decade ago when I had no heat and someone loaned me a small electric heater before it got down into the teens that night. And the ice storm years ago, when the power was out. So, not worried. But if it gets cold enough this winter to put the Monarchs in danger down in Mexico...that would be bad! It'll probably only get to the mid-forties down there this week.

We're forecasted to get down to 13° tomorrow night. I haven't seen those temperatures since we left Tennessee over 10 years ago.

The night time lows have come up a bit in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow for the Houston area. As long as we can keep it above 20º we don't have to worry about the exterior, exposed water pipes breaking.

We're supposed to be in the low 20s tonight, but in the teens tomorrow night. We'll be helped by cloud cover tonight and tomorrow. Up in the 70s later in the week! I wrapped the pipes coming out of the rain tank. We are on a hill. If the tank leaked, it would flood our neighbors' house. Almost happened one year.

21 right now, everyone is fine.
Pork pal, your pipe wrapping lasts a year? My piranha (Nubian kids) won't hardly leave it alone while I am working on it. LOL I was building a Quonset hut shelter yesterday in all that wind, by myself, while DH was fetching me some round bales. I got both livestock panels bent and my t posts driven, the hard part, when my school showed up. As I was tying the tarp in place, two jumped on the side and collapsed the bow. Two others were trying to eat my zip ties, and the last two were under my fete.I was not happy. Fortunately on our farm there is always a willing helper. Sent Crush around them and pushed them into an adjoining paddock for the duration. I then added two shorter upright spare panels on the side to prevent another collapse. Took advantage of their containment to wrap the faucet in that field although we ultimately shut off all water to the barns and fields.
DH just left for a week in Dallas this morning so I have chores to do. At least the wind is down to 17 mph and no disasters.

Adorable kids, Joy! It was 23.5° last night. I finally went out hunting for Frostweed ice this morning:
