Jo Ann, here is a beautiful one that is very low growing. I'm not sure, but many of the taller ones may not grow near as tall if kept in shallower soil.
I've only had my Tasmanian Tiger and Ascot Rainbow for 1 1/2 years and they are only about 8 inches tall, I think because of the growing conditions.

These two are new for me this year:

We sure have a lot to browse through here in our ATP database. I just looked. Not all are hardy types, but many are.

Since this whole journey is an experiment I expect some plants to go and be replaced by others. I do have E. 'Ruby Glow' on the table, you can see it right in front of the metal fence post in the background.

Some plants will need a judicious pruning from time to time to keep things in proportion. I have already clipped off that goofy stem sticking out on the Premna on the left.

I have been debating with myself whether to write on article on this or just post here. Do you folks think it has widespread interest to warrant an article? I have pretty much documented my construction from beginning to end with photos.

I think it would make a wonderful article Connie. A garden at eye level. There are so many directions you could go in writing it. Hurray!

Connie, Can you fit a chair underneath the table? Or do the saw horses get in the way?

Hi Carrie! Yeah, I probably could fit a chair under there. I do have an old plastic lawn chair planted with sedums. Plus another one I hope to plant next year.

Well, I'm afraid it will be awhile before I will be posting pics again. I just got an all new computer system, monitor etc set up and going and everything I have accumulated for the past eight or so years is on the old computer. Still trying to figure stuff out... I'm getting too old for all these changes!

What I did was buy a "tile" of growing sedums, about one foot square and I just plopped it onto the old plastic chair and arranged rocks around the edge to keep things in place. I may have posted way back when I first did it, a couple of years ago.

I found the sedum chair, right here:

It looks pretty forlorn now. I need to redo it this spring.

Connie, thanks for finding that photo. Looks like another fun project to spruce up! I love to work on projects that needs my attention again; gives me a chance to make more improvements or try something I didn't do the first time. Big Grin

That photo is from 2011 and it doesn't look so nice now. Well, the lazy way would be to just buy a new "tile". Fred Meyers has carried them the last few years. Each one is different. So next year it could look quite different. Or, maybe I will use semps on it...

Connie, would you like some of my Sedum lydium to grow with semps on the chair? It plays so nice with the semps.

Sure, Lynn. After checking the data base it looks like that one would be nice on the table too, snugged up against the rocks. I may have some plants to share with you too.

Guess I don't visit this forum enough. Just found this thread and LOVE your table Connie! Beautiful mixture of plants too. I bet it's pretty heavy. I've been kicking around the thought of making one of these since you shared the book information with us (can't remember the title right off, but I did purchase it). Too many other things taking up my time, but you've really inspired me with yours. Beautiful!
