Drooling Drooling Drooling Absolutely gorgeous!

But on to another subject… *Blush* I'm curious… *Blush* And I know I should probably ask this elsewhere, but I've not seen an example of this elsewhere! *Blush* ...How do you load your pictures like that? All of mine are one above another…You have loaded 2, and 3 side by side...

When you upload a picture and then upload another one, you will see that the second one will always (at least for me) be a coupld of spaces below the first one. Just use your mouse to go the front of that second upload, and click on that position. Then use your backspace button, clicking it one or more times until that second upload is immediately behind the first upload. That will position your pictures side-by-side. Click on "Preview" to see that you have what you want. Generally, I can put three pictures side-by-side.

I know I didn't use the right words, but I don't know the correct computer language to do any better. Sorry. *Blush*

Perfect explanation, Ken. Jim your 'Spotted Star' and the Arundina are gorgeous.

Melanie, that Vanda sure does have the 'blues'. I think it's not only the light, but the filter on the camera lens that alters the colors a bit. My cell phone camera enhances blues, and the other camera with the macro lens gets the reds better.

I tried to move pics further apart but it only seems to like 1 space btwn the file names.
And when you do go to preview, don't try to move the 1st view, which shows the pics. Doing that will remove them. Use the Preview that shows the name of the file. Discovered that the hard way.

This crazy weather........................Don't know if the Orchids need to be in or out. I'm definately moving them out Sun PM so they can get rained on Monday. One of my winter projects is to have a friend help me build a pergula off my shed. It will be a perfect spot for hanging all sorts of plants. Never too much sun & my vision is that it will be easy to "wrap" in winter. And then vines to grow up the sides.
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.

Well explained, Ken! Thumbs up
I got so used to lining them up side by side, I usually upload a bunch of pictures at the same time, then line them up with 1 space in-between. How many you can fit next to each other depends on the resolution/size of your screen. On my laptop I will see 4 pictures lined up, on my husband's larger IMac screen it will be 5 pictures side by side, my IPad shows 2.
I think that's what makes ATP so perfect loading up lots of pictures per post! It is unbeatable to show plant/orchid-related vacation pictures! Or just lots of stuff in bloom…. Smiling

Jim, pretty Arundina! I wish I could grow that one! Gorgeous Cymbidium!

I know these are repeats, but I'm just so pleased to have this many Yellow Birds blooming all at once. Here are all the shades - three spikes on one plant.

Elaine, that's so cool to have the varying shades on one plant.

I've been really good this year and with the exception of losing my mind at Byrd's Orchids going-out-of-business sale, I haven't bought too many orchids. I kind of ran out of room! But then, black rot set in and I lost a few so there was a little space. But still, I knew the cattleyas needed better spacing and ventilation so I resisted temptation. But now I've been tempted! St. Pete Orchid Farm posted a gorgeous orchid on their Facebook feed and I'm going to go pick it up from them tomorrow! Mom's buying it as my Christmas present (she bought my brother something so she feels like she has to be equal). I'll give you a hint and tell you it's a hanging orchid so it won't get in the way of the cattleyas. But otherwise, you have to wait until tomorrow. So we can all be excited together! Early Merry Christmas everyone!

Elaine, those are gorgeous blooms! Never tire of seeing them! Green Grin!

Good idea Jean…I'll have to follow that lead, and put mine out Sun. evening as well! I love the idea of a pergola! Will be a perfect place to grow them! Thumbs up

Great show from all of you today!
Hmm. I've never tried the backspace button. I use the drag and drop method when I preview mine. Never too old to learn, I'm told.

Elaine, it is alway nice to see such a good performer as your Yellow Bird! Thumbs up

Drag and Drop? Interesting!

My Lc ( John Mossman x etc etc is opening more floofy stuff and manages to scent half the greenhouse. The later blooms are not fully matured yet.

Ursula, so half of the greenhouse smells like Lc. John Mossman and the other half like a Bulbo. Quite the conflict. Hilarious! I absolutely love your Asctm christensonianum, which I'm sure is now called a Vanda. Nicely grown!

Out in the OC this morning, I found new flowers on Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' X Pot. Susan Fender 'Cinnamon Stick', AMAOS (aka. Pot. Linda Mathisen). Linda surely shows family traits.

Jim, it is indeed quite the conflict here, luckily it got so warm that the fan kicked in.

Well, I have good news and bad news, and then I have more bad news. St. Pete Orchid Farm messaged me this morning saying that either thrips or caterpillars got to the orchid I wanted to buy and the flowers were a little chewed and turning brown. In good news, he gave me $10 off the price. And hey, it'll bloom again, right? So here's a picture that St. Pete Orchid Farm shared of it on Facebook. It's called Aerivanda Somsri Sunset.

Thumb of 2013-12-21/mellielong/ae81f6

Here's a picture of what it looks like today. A little sadder.

Thumb of 2013-12-21/mellielong/c33af3

But I'm still happy I got it. Now, as for the more bad news...I got home and went to put the new plant in the shade house only to discover my rodent problem has expanded! I was looking forward to sharing with you guys in the very near future, pictures of Vanda Pure Delight. It's a regular bloomer for me and it was in spike again. It had been putting out that nectar stuff (is it actually considered nectar?) and was attracting wasps and ants but when I walked in today all the buds and part of the spike had been eaten! Grumbling I am so angry! The good news is, it looked like the rat poison had been disturbed so hopefully it ate some of that too and is now dying a horribly painful death. No mercy for rodents!

Out of curiosity, has anyone had problems with caterpillars eating their orchids? I raise butterflies so I'm kind of wondering. Most caterpillars only eat very particular plants, although there are some moths that will eat just about anything. It just got me wondering.

Melanie - so sorry to hear "of your loss". My 1 & only Vanda shoot was eaten before I got to see what it would be.

I'm planning on building a pergola type structure off my shed. Will wrap it in screen that will hopefully keep the squirrels out. Need to make a spot where the Orchids can be happy. Hope they will survive till Spring.
