Thanks @Calif_Sue I hadn't thought about the night-time temps! I think you mean the night before it opens having an impact on how recurve and aspects of coloration may appear? It was indeed a return to colder nights before (and after, for that matter) when this one opened, following a string of very hot days earlier in the month. Weather history shows that the temps had dropped about 15 degrees after the warm spell, and before this one bloomed.

So, yes, definitely a cooler morning when it bloomed. Thumbs up

Now that you mention it ... I've been puzzling over a lot more unusually slow rates for blooms opening fully, with some never opening fully at all when they have performed well before ... I've needed to "assist" a lot more blooms this week ... Hrmph ... I'll be keeping a much more interested eye on the overnight temps from now on. Thanks so much for the heads-up about that!

Interesting thread. Pinks aren't my thing for my landscape but a good flower is a good flower.

I did notice LILLIAN'S FRILLY FILLY interesting.

I know from observance and choosing plants for other people that Corryton Pink is my favorite pink. I tend to prefer the clump to the bloom and in "daylilyland" I'm not alone. Blooms, teeth, chicken fat are all fantastic and I admire the various introductions/individual blooms but I'm not one to babysit a flower for a few happy moments. I'm a fan of hardy, landscape grade bloomers and CP is/has been a superb specimen. When I approach a place where I've planted it I see it before I pull in. My end of personal satisfaction starts there, it's a bold plant and exactly why I favorite it.

I have Corryton Pink, this is just the second year it is loading up with buds, so hopefully it will be putting on a show in a short while. It has formed a nice clump.

I've been drooling over this thread since the beginning, but haven't said anything since I have no photos to share yet! Pinks are my favorite! I was very excited to see Ode to Lenore, which I didn't know about! I have to get that one, since I live in Lenore! Thanks for posting the pictures!

Here is a seedling I got from Michele a couple of years ago, and I really love the bright pink color. Can't remember the parentage, though.

Lilydaydreamer called it. It's Thundercat, which I've been coveting for awhile now. Just can't afford to shovel out $35+ $10 shipping with my husband's new job only paying minimum wage. But I haven't given up hope!

Forgot that I had this picture of Catherine Woodbery. I love this daylily! It is old, but so reliable, and always beautiful!
