off is fine: as long as you do one.

David, when ATP first began a couple of years ago Garden Art was THE BUSIEST off all forums. We had challenges and contests galore. You can see some of them if you scroll old posts. Maybe we can revive that fun!

Your spoons are adorable Becky! Sorry, but I won't be participating in this challenge. Too many other things going on right now. But I look forward to seeing what everyone else does. Thumbs up

Hey Boo,

O.K. Here they are. I call them "Crab Eyes". I know they are super simple but they do look funny with different plants! Hilarious! I tip my hat to you.

I have this really neat idea for the wooden spoons but I don't have enough wooden spoons to make it and it is too incredibly cold to hit the streets and the stores and find them. So I played around with regular dinner spoons and still love the idea, however, they aren't wooden and don't qualify for this contest.

And there's no way I'm going anywhere to buy wooden spoons, no way in this cold wind. I would turn into an instant icicle.

So, I took pictures because I'm going to make this before spring, and it really could be made with wooden spoons, although I'm going to use cheap silver ones that you find at yard sales or even at dollar stores. I like the idea of sun striking the silver. I haven't glued them all together but the project is so simple it looks finished just laid out on the table. When I finish the real thing, it could be hung on a fence or propped against a tree or even if using small spoons, could be hung from a limb.

So do you want to see pictures now or since it isn't eligible for the contest do you want pictures later, Becky and Vic?? It's nothing earthshaking, just a simple idea along the lines of the stacked plate flowers.

This could be done with wooden spoons that were spray painted or decked out in jewels like David's as well. But since I didn't have enough wooden spoons, you'll have to pretend.

I started with 2 different sized round mirrors that have been around here so long I can't remember where I got them, plus a buncha stainless steel spoons, big and little:

If I do this for real, I'll use an outdoor glue, probably E6000, since I always have it on hand. Next I started arranging them in all kinds of ways. Each picture is of a different arrangement, you'll see. The first is with all spoons, with the bowl of the spoon outward and the smallest mirror in the middle, then the big mirror and fewer spoons with the small mirror over the ends of them:

And so it goes, just watch for the changes; lots of possibilities.

If done with the wooden spoons they would be a lighter weight, but these could be hung on a fence or wall or even a tree trunk, I think. Maybe propped against something in the garden. They might be a little too heavy to be staked like the flower plates.

I've always liked using mirrors and reflective items in the garden.
That's about it; I sure hope I didn't use the same photo twice, hard to see those tiny little thumbnails.

(Edited to remove the last photo which was a repeat. I had a feeling I'd do that!!)

I don't have a fence, but I do have a huge old tree trunk or two and I also have a wall that it would be pretty on. Can't use all my spoons, though, how would I eat my soup? So I'll have to go on a cheap spoon hunt.

Anyway, fun to do and if it hadn't been for the wooden spoon challenge that you and Becky gave us, I would not have thought of it. And if it hadn't been so danged cold. Sad

'Dollar Tree' is the ticket for cheap spoons Sharon. Sometimes they have multi packs for a buck. They may rust in time, but that would only make the outdoor art better!

How fun are your silvery snowflakes and love the mirrors. You play the Muse me thinks,........and Great Idea! Smiling
