Thank you all for your kind comments, thumbs ups, and for the acorn.

Mike, your blooms are lovely! Glad to see that you're still getting some blooms.

LOL Jeanie! The rabbits here feast on my lilies and echies, they haven't touched my toad lilies.

I cage my new coneflowers so that the rabbits wouldn't get to them. I am going to work on some better cages this winter that look more pleasing and are also more sturdy. I was very impressed with Milkshake that I got from Santa Rosa last fall.

I should get a commission, but I will again spread the word about Repellex tablets. They were developed at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. You bury the tablets under your vulnerable plants. They take up the stuff systemically and the whole plant tastes bad. In theory the rabbits and deer will learn to avoid the area in your yard, and after using these for the past 2 years it appears to me that claim is accurate. It seems expensive, $20 or so for a bottle of 50 tablets, but it is effective for a whole year. I have tried every other method and this works the best besides caging, which is not as aesthetically pleasing to me. So I treat my lilies and echies. They avoid all of those and have started to bother my astrantia, so now I am treating them also.
I think I have mentioned that I even see rabbits in my yard when I am out with my big dog...last week he saw one behind me and bolted after it. I had his leash in my left hand at the time. As a result, I now have 2 broken fingers. I think it's time to put out traps and welocate the wascals.

Jeanie, at that rate you are better off getting the 300 count bottle.

That's 60 for $20.
I found this after reading more about Repellx

Interesting, Mike. I do not have issues with deer, and the tablets are definitely effective against the rabbits in my yard. One of my local gardener friends also witnessed rabbits investigating a newly planted perennial garden treated with Repellex, and they left after one bite. With deer and hosta, I'm not sure what would ever work. That's just like me and chocolate Rolling my eyes.

Tarev, that's an unusual flower. Very nice!
Rose, most of us are in the same boat. At least we have our pics to go over this winter and enjoy blooms from warmer places.

Hilarious! Hilarious! Is it a mouthful to spell and pronounce Mike Hilarious! Hilarious!

Yes..it does take a little understanding of their needs..have killed a few to finally understand what they needed. Takes some tweaking of watering habits, use of correct media and proper amount of light and airflow to make them grow well. I used to be more of a cacti and succulents enthusiast only..but got to know orchids later and its unique needs. Big Grin I just love to see some of them in bloom even indoors during winter when most of the other plants are sleeping.
