At the orchid meeting yesterday, all members who paid their dues on time received a free orchid. There was not a large selection and when my ticket number was called they just handed me Phal. violacea 'Crystelle' X Phal. violacea 'Krull's Navy Blue'. The leaves are huge and it was in spike so I just smiled and said thanks. I found a picture of it and now I am pleased. Go to: http://www.orchidboard.com/com...
and click on the thumbnail photo.

OMG! I thought I was going to see her purchases already! The shows around here have lengthened to 4 days. They start on Thurs., and go through the weekend. We must not have the buyers that buy as much at one time as Ursula does. Whistling

Sticking tongue out Whistling the suspense is killing me. Are we a bunch of losers or what? No orchid shows here in the summer, sadly.

No, she is now home, finally! Sorry, you all!
I went to the Orchid Fest, had as always a wonderful time, picking up nice plants and chatting with the vendors. I didn't really take pictures, I was too busy. ( really! Big Grin )
Came home, watered my plants, unpacked my loot, wrote everything down, repotted/potted up what needed to be taken care of.
Had a bite to eat, packed up an overnight bag and food stuff and we took off to our place in Pennsy.
I love waking up there, especially with the nice weather we had today. Breakfast at the pond, feeding hungry little fish with their favorite food ( Panettone). Klaus took the Sickle Bar mower out today, for some trail - cutting. I cleaned up the house a bit extra and did some small chores otherwise. ( now it is even clean enough for my daughter…. Big Grin )
Hung out by the pond with a book and just enjoyed the singing of the birds and the general vibe of the place.
Just came home, watered everything, fed the little guys in the pond, put Dinner on the table, ate and now
I am finally ready to post my loot! Whew!! Smiling
off to the deck to do that…..

here is now my list!! Smiling
Miltoniopsis Saffron Surprise
it came from Silva and this one smells so good. It is the beautiful plant full of blooms.
a small Coelogyne Xyrekes with one bud
Anguloa virginalis, since mine had slowly expired and I do well with Anguloa Dubia (ready to bloom), I figured I give it another try with this one again.
A beautiful variegated Arachnis Maggie Ooi, which is most likely not registered
Edited to say Maggie Oei
C lueddemaniana 'Cesar Fernandez' x 'Inferno' ( my first luedde)
Gongora scaphephorus
Vanda lamellata
Blc Drumbeat 'Heritage' HCC/AOS
Ascofinetia Moonlight Firefly
Nsd Summer Stars (need to look up Nsd)
Bc Carnival Kids 'Green Gem' AM/RHS/BM/JOGA
Neofinetia falcata Kyokku
Neofinetia falcata'Red' x Aerides odorata 'Pink'

Waldor Orchids came with gorgeous Vandas and Jim Rose had a bunch of large Sobralias, so tempting on both! But - I am running out of room to pick up another large Vanda and the Sobralias need the cooler climate zone of Ecuador, which I surely do not have. So, after circling both tents a few times, I gave myself a firm no.
The Orchid Fest is still on tomorrow.

And this blue monster sat in Silva's greenhouse, it got lots of oohs and aahs from us all.

Gorgeous C. Canhamiana

hopefully I didn't misspell to many.....

Added- Nsd is Neosedirea.

Wonderful haul, Ursula, but I am going to have look several of these up. That canhamiana looks like my "Big George".

thanks, Jim.
I am happy the Arachnis Maggie Oei was registered in 1950. I really hope I can grow it, it is a beautiful variegated plant too.

Nice Canhamiana, and I was wondering what the variegated one was. I've never seen one bloom.

Fantastic haul, Ursula. What lovely flowers on your Miltoniopsis, and such a luscious color. That big Catt is truly magnificent. Guess they probably aren't selling that one right?

Can't wait to see blooms on your new Ascofinetia and the Neo's. That last one sounds really interesting.

Elaine, surely the Canhamiana will get eventually chopped into pieces and sold. I would guess…

I've just been looking up Ursula's new babies and here are my notes:

Mps. Saffron Surprise (Mps. Snohomish x Mps. Lixos) Here is what was said about a recent award winning plant that will give Ursula something to shoot for: Forty-five flowers and eight buds on eight mature and two immature inflorescences; plant 30cm in diameter, flowers evenly distributed around 8-cm pot; flowers creamy yellow, golden yellow centrally, striated rust centrally; substance good; texture matte

Coelogyne [Coel.] xyrekes is an old species dating to 1915. Several awards including AOS HCC

Anguloa [Ang.] virginalis has a really cool looking flower. Awards include AOS AM/HCC. The original species was registered in 1862.

Arach. Maggie Oei (Arach. hookeriana x Arach. flos-aeris) was registered in 1950. The petals and sepals are red and yellow striped like a peppermint stick. Different!

C. lueddemanniana X C. Inferno is not registered but I'll bet it's a winner. Good genes.

Gongora [Gga.] scaphephorus this species was registered in 1854. I love the flower. Good one. Multiple awards. One winner had 341 flowers on 5 spikes.

Vanda [V.] lamellate Great flower! Multiple award winner.

Blc Drumbeat 'Heritage' HCC/AOS - I found this listed as C., Lc., and Sc. all with the same picture. The Blc. is probably an error. Most references call it an Lc. Pretty pink and red with lots of floof.

V. Moonlight Firefly (V. falcata x V. Twinkle (1960)). The Ascofinetias are just Vandas now. It should be very fragrant.

You looked up your Neosedirea [Nsd.] Summer Stars just in time for me to tell you that it is now called Vdnps. Summer Stars (V. falcata x Sed. japonica). Now you'll have to look up Vdnps as I did. Hilarious! I couldn't find any awards or other info on it.

Bc. Carnival Kids is not in OrchidWiz and it is hard to find info on it. I'm guessing it is not registered. I did find that it's a cross between B. nodosa and C. dormaniana and I found a pic of the flower, all green with a pink lip. Very nice.

Neofinetia [Neof.] falcate was easy to find but the Kyokku part wasn't. It must be a new variety. Neof. falcate has tons of awards.

I got a hit on your Neo falcata X Aerides odorata. Aerides [Aer.] Pussadi (Aer. falcata x Aer. odorata). Another looker. You did good!

Wow, Jim! Just wonderful! Great research, I am happy!
Sedirea is now Phalaenopsis….You are right! Hilarious!

I am really looking forwards to see what the Arachnis will do! The blooms sound lovely.

Btw the Mps Saffron Surprise is scenting the whole living room, just beautiful. Klaus loves it! I better do well with it! Smiling

Thanks so much, Jim!
