I enjoyed your previous OC construction posts as well, Jim. If you OC has an eastern exposure, it will be the same as my porch, which I enclose during the fall/winter months. I might be able to take the enclosure panels down in a couple of weeks, when our low temperatures stay at or above 50 F. For me, and this is just my opinion, an eastern exposure is best spring and summer and a sourthern exposure is best fall and winter. The angle of the sun determines this.
In the fall and winter months, my porch is used more as an "over-flow" for my tropical plants, since the two greenhouses (well three, if you count the tiny one sitting on my deck) are home to 98% of my plants. I do keep my personal, rare staghorns on the porch. I also bring in my orchid plants when they are in bud, so that I can enjoy the "coming-out party" and the blooms/fragrance. I also use it to box up my plants for shipping. The porch is now jammed full of plants, some of what I had to bring in because of our last bout of cold weather. It is not 10% of what your OC is, but it serves its purpose well. I will take some photos of the (enclosed) porch and post them when I finish uploading and publishing my mounted orchid pictures on my website.
