Oh wow ! So many cool irises and so little space... guess I'll have to do some thinning and gifting to make room for a couple new ones this year... plus all the daylily seedlings that need a spot. Yikes

I see a Recless Abandon in your future, Mary Ann, and maybe a CF too, if it has some nice increases this year. Can't help you with the pink one though, don't have it.

Of course the 'edges' come from different traits; the plicata is one trait & the Emma Cook pattern another. In SDBs the 'pumila' fall spot leaves some color to make an edge. In red amoena SDBs I am trying to increase the area of the spot to cover the entire fall. When Paul Black saw my 'Reddy Set' (avatar) he mentioned the nice little edge. I said that was what I was trying to cover & he looked at me like I had 2 heads. Perhaps I do, but Jayne Ritchie in WA state has the same idea.

This is off topic, but I was looking at SDB's on the database because I don't know a lot about what they usually look like as far as edges go...and I see that the list is mixed up, with Irish Chant coming first, followed by several others, then an alpha list, then a mix of others, and then another alpha list. Are they supposed to all be in alpha order or am I missing something??

I just went over to the plant database and clicked on irises on the right and then just clicked on the box standard dwarf bearded and then scrolled to the bottom and clicked search. It came up in alpha order. Try it once more and see if that was just a glitch.

The first seedling has too short a stem for the flower. Always something to change.

I think the first one is the most attractive of the group, though. Thumbs up
