Do you have a nursery or sell privately? I'm a collector of hostas and I'm always looking for new ones for my gardens. I do have a few of those from a coop that I've been a member of for several years, but sales are dropping so this may be the last year for a chance at the great buys and new varieties coming out. I am a collector and I develop sports. I have bought a lot from QandZ, a wholesaler.
I grow the hostas for one or two years before I sell any. The very expensive ones I sell to those who know that the are rare and expensive. For example, Royal Mouse Ears.

I have a large display garden (shade to partial sun) covering almost half an acre. In late May I put up signs that I have potted hostas for sale, and people show up to buy. The signs usually come down mid June, but last summer I left it up until mid July, and even more people showed up. Many have been buying from me for about ten years.
I sold about 300 pots, $7 to $9 each.

I have never bought pots because people drop them off at my place, sometimes 40 or 50 at a time.

I start to decide on what has done well over the winter, and those are listed for sale. I usually have over 50 cultivars for sale.

As soon as I transfer my list, I will send you a copy.

For friends I charge $5, and I would do the same for ATP members.

Is this a list of hosta for sale for 2014? or? I would be interested in seeing it, if it is for this year.

Shel, welcome to ATP, there are many members willing to share information.

This plant is single crown, about three years old.

I will sell this for $26. including express shipping.

Let me know if you want it, and I will dig, clean, and ship by the end of the week, and you should have it by Tuesday.

Wow, Profesora, you have quite a long list. I'm really intrigued by the streaked hostas. Do you have any and how much would they cost? Small ones would be ok for me because I'll be moving within a year. Thank you in advance.

Streaked hostas are fascinating and unreliable. The streaks are always changing and one summer they stabilize and they are no longer streaked, but rather, variegated. You have to constantly remove any growth that is not streaked.

Streaked hostas are so because their chromosomes are unstable. The top of the leaf has one set and the bottom has another set. This causes the variegation. While they are in flux, there are streaks.

Yes, I do have a few streaked: this summer.

Galaxy is streaked but I have more of the all green Galaxy.

Royal Mouse Ears is streaked. Price is $30 per crown, $50 retail.

Dream Maker is streaked and it becomes more so with age.

My own development, Jenn Ann, is streaked. There are three forms at this time.

I have a hosta that develops into many different variegations and streaks. This hosta grows better in a pot.

If you are willing to send me an annual report with stats and picture, I will send you a two crown plant for free.

Let me know,

Gerry
