That's so exciting, Annette! We don't have any growth here, won't even see tulips and other early spring bulbs breaking ground for another few weeks. Looking at you pictures is almost as good as seeing them live, ALMOST!!

We've had 60 deg weather for the last couple of days, lots of the snow melted. Maybe I can actually free my frozen to the ground Christmas decoration deer from the front yard soon....

The bulbs have been up and at em' for several weeks now. We're having more rain tonight and this week with warmer temps. I plan of putting down some composted manure with Azomite this week around the peonies.

Liz, wow, the deer is frozen to the ground, oh my! We've still got areas in the garden where the soil is frozen, but thankfully, nothing is frozen to the ground.

I hope you'll start having the great meltdown soon, so that you can start seeing your garden.

The snow is going fast now, Annette! Think I can rescue the poor deer and put them with the rest of the decorations in the garage in the next couple of days. I could've probably pulled them loose earlier but I was afraid I'd screw up the lights or break pieces off.

It was 60 degrees today, supposed to be in the low 50s tomorrow then cooling down again on Thursday. Some of my gardens that are in full sun are snow free for the first time since December but there's nothing showing yet except damp mulch! Come on spring, I'm ready!!!!

Glad you're getting warmer temps Liz. I'm enjoying the warm up here as well. Unfortunately, several people told me today that we're supposed to have more snow again next week, I'm screaming here. Enough already!

We're supposed to get mixed rain/snow tonight--certainly not finished with winter in CO! I feel your pain and echo your screams, Annette!
Debra, I grew up in Jefferson, Texas and never even saw a peony until I joined the military and went to Korea. Now my best friend from there tells me they're grown around some of the restored historic homes in Jefferson, might have to visit just to see!

Peonies will grow here, although they don't bloom as prolifically as they do in cooler climates. Bet the ones around Jefferson are beauties. Smiling

It's been a few days that I have looked closely at my peonies. They are popping up all over. We will be in the 70's all this coming week so I expect to see a lot more activity. Big Grin

Wow, that's a lot of growth! Another 2 months before mine will be that big. But watching yours in the warmer climates make it seem like 2 peony seasons so keep the pictures coming!

Debra, I divided a few of my peonies and sent some to my sister outside Oklahoma City, it'll be interesting to see how those perform. They get enough cold weather but it heats up pretty quickly in the spring. I'll bug her to send pics if they bloom this year.

Dianne and Debra, it's good to see your peonies waking up. I fertilized mine with some compost and Azomite today. We're expecting severe thunderstorms tonight, so they should get watered well. A few of them are starting to leaf out. Here Raspberry Charm today. It's really making progress, due to our warm temps. We reached 74 degrees today, and have had warmer temps all week.

We'll cool back down starting this weekend, with nights below freezing againg starting next Wednesday. Thankfully, thee plants don't seem to be phased by the cold weather.

The peonies continue to make progress here. We're getting below freezing temps the next few nights, hopefully they'll be fine.

Pic taken 02-19-2013 of one of my fern leafs. Now we are still dealing with low temps in the teens and barely above freezing highs. Expect everything to be a month late around here. Could be one of our best years for peonies.

Everything is later here as well in GA, thanks to this crazy weather. I don't mind however, because it means my peony bloom season will be later, we have a lot going on in May with family coming, so I hope to still have some blooms then. I'm hoping that the pips and stems that are out wont get by the freezing weather tonight and tomorrow night.

Most of my yard is finally snow free; poor Christmas deer have been rescued and stored in the garage. Even though there's only a tiny bit of snow left there is still no green peeking through the mulch yet and my tree peonies still look like dried up branches. I planted a lot of new herbaceous and a few Itohs and trees last fall, can't wait to see new growth to know they made it through the winter. I know I shouldn't expect to see any peony growth until after the tulips are up but can hardly keep my hands off the mulch......like a really bad itch.......I want to look but know there's nothing to see. Got catalogs from Klehm's Song Sparrow, Fina, Brecks and Wayside in the last couple of days so I at least have pretty pictures of flowers to distract me!

I don't have pics but i've been seeing growth for several weeks, even on the newest fall planted ones, so i'm excited. I have tons of blooms and one flower on my Lenten Roses. Can't wait for spring!
