Picked up another boulder today. Well I didn't really pick it up, it was placed in the back of my truck with a crane. Took it home and rolled it out, manuvered it into place with a post and dug the dirt out from underneath it until I got about 1/3 of it buried. I think it looks good and now I'm done with boulders! I hope.

Yea, Dan, I see that space begging for a boulder, too.
Looks very nice.

When I had a gigantic bolder delivered one year (former house) they delivered it with a truck and crane and the entire neighborhood watched! They dug a hole for it too. It was the size of half a VW bug!

After chalking out the walking pods I decided that I should do them now rather than waiting to do them later...or possibly never. So I formed them up and started getting bids to have them poured, colored and stamped. I have not done any colored and stamped concrete work before so I thought I'd let the professionals do it and I would learn by watching in the event I would be doing a similar project down the road some time.

After getting bids ranging from $1050 to $1500 to get the job done the way I wanted I decided that it was a litle too much strain on the budget right now. So I just had regular concrete poured for now and I can have a colored and stamped overlay applied at a later date. Because I was working on the BBQ in the backyard I had a concrete finisher come over and do the pods.

Concrete truck arrived at 7 am.

This guy really worked his tail off and was worth every dollar. He did a far better job than I would have been able to do.

11 am and the work is done! The following day I stripped the forms and now the concrete is curing.

Dan, I hope you don't mind my posting this here, if you do, please delete it. If you don't, please forward it on. I recommend a boycottt of DG starting tomorrow at noon for as long as it takes, look and read but don't post. Let's see what happens when they have no active members. Spread the word. I spread out 6 tons of gravel this week end but came up a little short of having enough to complete that side of the yard. I didn't want to order any more than what I thought I could handle in a weekend. What is done looks great! We are getting total strangers stopping by and commenting on how they like it. I'll post pic's when it is done next weekend.

It seems a little more daunting to find your way around on cubits. There are so many more topics, and threads under those topics, and...It's a shame there isn't a way you can mark everything read, or if there is I haven ot found it, and then start just watching the new posts.

I think Dave will get it squared away given a little more time Alan. But, for the time being, he has to proceed with an extrodinary amount of caution.

Alan, one thing it took me a while to figure out is to 'watch' threads that you're interested in, even if you haven't posted on them. Sometimes it is a little difficult to find them again. You'll get used to it. There is much to explore here!

There are some things even in Arizona Gardens I'm not interested in. i.e. Fruits. I found no way I could remove that from the topics I watch, so I don't have to be annoyed by those red yes's :)
