I have completed this phase of my front yard landscape project! And it only took me 4 1/2 months.

The next phases will include accent lighting, a rock wall along the left property line to keep control my neighbors tree and shrub litter, and maybe a small water feature. These projects will have to wait for a while though. I've got to finish the BBQ now.

Dan, You've done a great job planning and implementing that design. I checked the before picture and it really brings the after picture into better 'focus'.

Thank you!

I think it will look really good about 5 yrs down the road when everything has more size.

Dan - Can you post a picture of when you had those two big mesquites out front?
I remember the photos you posted when they fell over and the transformation is outstanding.
What a difference and I really like it.

Here is a pic a couple of years old so things were a bit larger when they went over on 1-22-10.

Dan, how are the palms holding up?

Someone posted this on DG - maybe you or someone else has some advice for him? He's a CA member who stopped in on the SW Forum to ask his question...

I have 3 Q palms in my front yard here in Glendale, CA. All planted appx. 15 yrs ago. One was the larger of the three and is doing fine. Growing nicely. The two that were smaller took off and are almost double the size of the big one!
They have thinner trunks and shorter fronds. We get very strong winds up here on the hills 2-3 times a year that breaks most everything! This year it broke the top of one of these taller palms and it is pretty tilted to one side. I'm affraid I'll have to cut this one down. Does anyone know why they grew so rapidly? Is there a way to slow them down?
I would appreciate some advice.

Queen Palms are tropical and grow quickly with plenty of water so I assume some got more water than others. Also, they are prone to a fungus and should be treated everyone once in a while with an anti-fungal that is poured into the crown.
