We use Linux, and while we don't deal with most of the issues that Windows users do (as far as viruses and such), using Linux does not help with this particular issue (Heartbleed).
Don't be intimidated. If you saw my laptop, you'd probably not even realize it wasn't Windows. They work and look pretty much the same way with far less headaches for the Linux user

I checked the website Dave gave the link to above, and both my bank and H&RBlock came up SAFE, but ...? I'll log on to my bank Mon, when my SS check is due, and hope for the best. The IRS claims it has no problems, but can you believe anything the government says these days? Ca. franchise tax board hasn't made any comment, that I have seen.

I recently switched from Firefox (was a VERY loyal FF user) to palemoon.org I like it better than firefox because they don't keep jacking around with the user interface. I tried chrome a couple-three years ago, and didn't notice a difference, so I stayed with FF.
