What are the last ones there with the purple blooms & ferny foliage?

Larkspurs

Ahhhhh. Thank you! So now I add Larkspurs to my list. Generally, what does well for most of you Texans, does well here.

Check out delphinium, they are related, perennial, and prettier:



Also, I find them harder to grow

I did some delphinium & they croaked.

They seem determined to be difficult

Yep, I had them in 2 totally different locations/situations & couldn't get either to live.

More wildflowers from north Fl.
This first one.... well, it just popped up right where we step off the stepping stones. We are avoiding stepping on it. It doesn't exactly qualify as a wild flower but it is doing it's own wild thing.

Sysirynchium - Blue eyed grass. It's all over the place but hard to take photos showing just how much as it's tiny size makes such impossible.

I love the phlox too! I didn't realize it smells so sweet! The other day I was doing a 'scan' where dh was going to mow (dug up a couple of yarrow plants and relocated ) and noticed the sweet smell of the phlox. Much of it grows close to the trees, so it doesn't get mowed but I picked some of it and put in a vase - I can smell it every time I walk into the room.

Yummy, isn't it?

And they make great, long lasting cut flowers!

IMHO a person couldn't have too much phlox!

Does that mean we're Phloxaholics?
