Personally I try to import images when an entry doesn't have a photo (or many) or the photo is particularly good or descriptive of a feature of the plant. As the owner of the photo you can always ask that it be deleted or moved to page 2.

I have seen your beautiful photos and have thought of suggesting the photo for the database many times only to find you have already submitted a beautiful photo of same plant Smiling

Thanks Cinda, I always think of the Hybridizer and want to represent their work in a positive way. So any that I submit, I hope does that. At least in the case of irises and day lilies, lol.

This is so true. For instance daylilies. Sure I want a good view of the bloom and sometimes it is the only objective. Rarely for me but... I have a "distance landscape". It really helps to see 2 years, 3 years, 6 years for making choices and decisions. Again, the more the merrier. All Things Plants, as long as bandwidth or hosting issues aren't a problem.

Ive been giving thumbs up and acorn(s) to everything with a pollinator in it. Not just for that but always the those. I had no idea that this would sway the thumbnail chosen to represent that plant. If someone takes the time to give me a thumbs up or acorn(s) I have a look through their photos etc. The thumbs up also sways the ranking of the common name I think. The number of photos will at some point be a detractor but ATP is nowhere near that. I plan to replace some of my own when the right replacement comes along. I do like to see all the seasons and all the parts and the whole. The macros are a must for some features. I will, from now on, be more judicious with my thumbs up now that i no there more than just a compliment.

I don't think you should over-think this.

If you see a photo you like, by all means, you should give it a thumbs-up without being concerned about changing the order of the photos. Reason being: the admins can and do over-ride the thumbs up by forcing one particular photo to be the thumbnail for that plant.

Oh, that's good to know! Didn't realize that.
