Awesome Lori!!
and ...what's the word? almost...overwhelming, really--
Flipping through all the pictures, I found myself awestruck by the moss, of all things, because I cannot grow that either! Like some sort of displacement envy because I am familiar with moss at least...and then I got so excited by the Telesonix jamesii and I literally ran outside to check mine (it survived the winter and was looking happy between some rocks not that long ago) and found it all brown and crispy with a little hitchhiking clover undaunted.
Argh Crying and I don't know??? if it fried up with the heat and dryness, or got shaded out by an expanding aster, or got sogged out by lawn sprinkler geysers gone awry, or what--
pardon the lament--I've been agonizing over it while weeding a bit (because I grow those very well, thank you)

I am meaning to say, what a darn fine specimen you have there--wish I didn't kill mine!

and on the brighter side,
I did pick up a Lychnis alpina, and an Eriogonum on my way home today (don't know where I'm gonna put 'em Whistling but what a fun problem to look forward to)

That's looking great, dirtdorphins!
I have a similar story about my Heterotheca jonesii, except it's due to ants building up into it - will take some time to recover.

My Lewisia rediviva transplants in the rock garden appear to be taking well; they're putting out more growth as well. In fact, all of the new plants out there look pretty good...I'm so happy to see it!😄

There are many good photos in this thread so I am bumping it up so we can enjoy them again. I have not checked to see if the photos have been added to the data base but that might be a good idea?

Bump

This is one of my favorite threads from 2014
I have bumped it because I think some may need to see some beautiful plants from others gardens
Personally I miss being able to get out to other gardens
so glad to have NGA to help satisfy the craving.

@dirtdorphins I simply love your semp hill, with volunteer pulsatilla?, popping up here n' there! Can you continue to shift your camera focus a little bit beyond?.... Hilarious! I love the revival of this thread. It's full of wonderful rock garden plants which I would love to grow. My rock garden is still a completely imaginary project. I do have a few plants growing in pots though...I'm getting closer.... Smiling For instance I have about 70 pots full of Lewisia cotyledon rosettes. It could easily replace the semps into a Lewisia hill. Has anyone ventured in growing Lewisias in the garden instead of an alpine house? They've done quite well here with natural summer drought in their pots, so I'm tempted to get them fully out into the open garden. Any suggestions?
Arturo

It is your thread
I only mentioned the date because I asked on the sight form about bumping old threads and it was suggested that I note it was an old thread so as not to confuse some people Smiling
