Okay, y'all. I bought a clematis at Lowe's labeled as Hyde Hall, but it has a smaller double bloom on it. The others had large, single
white blooms. I know this isn't Hyde Hall, but what other clems have small white blossoms?

Thanks a bunch!

When you say smaller, do you have an approximate measurement of the bloom you want to identify? Is it pure white or tinted with pink or green? What color are the anthers? A photograph would be even better. Smiling

Some smaller double whites for comparison:
Duchess of Edinburgh
Huldine
John Huxtable

My first thought was the montana grandiflora. See if the attached photo is a match. If so, allow PLENTY of room for it to ramble and only prune immediately after flowering.

For the sake of comparison, here it is with Pink Champagne.

This is just one montana grandiflora but it spread to both ends of the 16' fence and around each corner by 4'.

Here are 2 photos of the bloom. It is about 3 1/2" in diameter.

Ow, wow, that looks to me like Arctic Queen. My absolute favorite clematis--and the one I killed last year and can't replace! Sticking tongue out

Sorry, I missed the part about it being a double.

Then I'm down to Duchess of Edinburgh.

I think Belle is more affected by weather. Warm springs give more silvery-lavender blooms...at least they do here.

Arlene:

I'm thinking it might be your Duchess of Edinburgh. The photos of it look more like it than Arctic Queen,
which would be rare for a nursery here to be offering. I just hate it when this happens! Glare

I hate it as well but it does happen.

When the Duchess first opens it is super glorious so be overjoyed with it.
