Annette -- does your Iris have yellow in the throat? My Clarence is about to bloom -- I'll take pictures from several angles to make a better comparison.

I don't know what it is, but no, it's not Clarence. It doesn't look like anything I grow (that has bloomed for me anyway) . When I'm "cruzin'" the iris vendors's sites, I'll keep an eye open...Arlyn

I do not recognize it but it is a lovely iris.

Here's a picture of one of my NOID's that was a mistake from Suttons a few years ago. It was supposed to be King Tush. He sent me two rhisomes of King Tush after this one bloomed. The one that's Yellow and purple is Kool Nights, the NOID is the baby blue and white aeomina behind it. It's so beautiful, Sutton wouldn't venture a guess as to what it was based on the pictures, but I looked through all his offerings that year, and I think it may be Calm Stream. That was the only one they had offered that year that was like it. If I could find a vendor for it, I'd get one to see for sure, but haven't seen it offered anywhere.

Kool Nights is SO kool!! So is the mystery Iris! Lovey dubby

Say Tom -- a couple of things to tell you. I'll still take that rhizome or two of Copatonic, if you don't mind. Mine survived the winter -- endearing itself to me forever -- but is a tad puny. A couple more rhizomes, and a good location in Iris Lane and I'll have a clump in a couple of years. That would make me VERY happy!! Green Grin!

Second -- last year you sent me Tango Amigo. It's going to bloom for me this year -- YAY!! -- and has no less than 13 increases!! Can you believe that? I'm going to have to move it, or thin it, or something. It's just amazing. You sure know how to grow 'em in Wisconsin!! Apparently it thinks that Kentucky winters are a cake-walk! Rolling on the floor laughing

I have to agree, both Kool Nights and the NOID are beautiful.

I did plant 'Clarence' several years ago, but I have never seen it bloom. I've also been sent the wrong irises in the past for what was to be ' Romantic Evening', but it wasn't. I'll just enjoy the plants as NOIDs.

Thanks all for the comments. OK, I will leave Capatonic on the list for you, Mary Ann Kool Knights and the NOID are recovering plants, yes, if you remember my "green year" where I didn't treat for iris borers so I could save the world, and nearly lost many irises. Rolling my eyes. I'm not sure if they will bloom this year or not. There are lots of rhizomes there, but quite small yet. We'll see. They are such a pretty ones.

Tango Amego is a really fast increasing plant. You will have a big clump before you know it. Mine got so crowded I had to dig it all out and replant it, as just thinning it didn't keep it down. Could be that it was so happy to miss this nasty -22 degree winter that it's going wild down by you.

Rob, I haven't ordered from Nola's Garden for the last 4 or 5 years. I wasn't too pleased with the rhizomes I got from them. Often so small it took 2 or 3 years for them to bloom. Late shipments etc. Maybe they have improved some over the years.

I was surprised to see the sky was clear this morning when I took the dogs out, and I could actually see the stars shining. I don't know if it will stay clear after the sun comes up, but it sure beats the cloudy drizzle we have been having on and off all week.

That's the old *damned if you do, and damned if you don't* dilemna, Tom -- use the chemicals and participate in the destruction of the planet, or don't and create total destruction of another type in your own back yard. What's a gardener to do? I'm glad your Irises survived the assault.

Gotta say -- Nola's *Calm Stream* doesn't look as pretty as Tom's NOID. Tom -- I wonder if your NOID is a seedling that never got introduced? Odd that the seller couldn't identify it.

Tango Amigo is going to have to move to another location. It has the same amount of space along the fenceline as all the other Irises I planted that year. The others won't fill their space for another year -- it's already outgrown the space allocated. In this year of defeat, it's great to see such enthusiasm! Thumbs up

Annette - That second iris photo you asked about could be "Diamond Lake". A few years ago Schreiner's sent me one as a bonus plant with my order. I still have it and it has grown well for me. Anyhow, it looks pretty similar with more of a bluish tint in person.

Thanks Stacey, I have ordered Diamond Lake in the past. I'll have to see if the labeled plants looks the same once it blooms. I would love to see some of your blooms for comparison.

Tom--great amoena. I don't remember ever seeing one in such a light true blue. If I had seen that picture on Schreiners' website or in their catalog I would have just chalked the color up to their "creative" blue photography. I'd love to see other pictures of it with less direct sunlight--maybe in a couple of weeks?

Stacey, you're right, your picture very is close to the 2 nd iris I posted. Diamond Lake was one of the irises I received for free from Schreiner's in 2009 Hurray! Hurray!

It does look very close Annette, you might have a match.

Bett, It's really a beauty, but when I sent a picture to Sutton, he wouldn't venture a guess. I'm not sure if it will bloom this spring or not, but if it does, I'll for sure take some more careful pictures.

Diamond Lake has a registered height of 37" and you said your NoID was just 24". Does it appear to stunted due to weather?
