Diamond Lake is also a mid bloomer and was introduced by Schreiners in 2010. So maybe you the timeframe is wrong and it was a bonus more recently. If not, then it is not Diamond Lake.

Gosh, this ID process can be tedious, but hang in there, you will either learn their names, or you can love them without one. They are both very pretty.

I can never identify an iris from a picture. If I buy one from the local iris society and its marker gets lost it will have to be a noid until I see it in someone's garden. The moment I see it I will recognize it. Funny that does not happen with a picture for me.

Greg,
I received Diamond Lake from Schreiners in 2010, along with Coming Storm, Raven Girl, Company Red, Dodger Blue, and Jamaican Dream, from some promotion that they were doing.

I have other irises like Ziggy and Decadence that are also putting out shorter blooms this year. I don't know why they're doing this.

I have to agree that the ID process can be tedious. The good news is that I have the names of all if the irises that I've ever ordered. Unfortunately, tags have been lost, or disintegrated over time.

Thank you all for taking the time to give your input, it's greatly appreciated.

Annette

Then I think Stacy's ID is correct. You got it from the hybridizer, got it when it was introduced, and you have other irises going short. Big Grin

Thanks Greg. I pulled out the yard stick and measured one of the newer bloom stalks. The 1st stalk was much shorter, this one is 35 inches, and the one to the left of it is 36 inches.

We've had some really warm weather this week, and all of the plants have really taken off in growth and started blooming.
