the esculenta is noctual .. a little earlier than citrina... but not in time like it

It was great last year with the citrina. It opened about 40 buds arround 7:30 pm in just 5 minutes every day. Suddenly, seemingly all hoverflies there and we were in the battle for the pollen.

I hope to get some potts of esculenta... but stil have seedlings from

http://garden.org/thread/view_...

I´m glad that the seedling regenerate ... these are just 7 boxes of total 32.

Helix shows it´s first flower in my garden. It´s just a smal DF. I was a bit confused by the color, but the fower is about 4 weeks to early and the plant is stil in a pot.

So at 30th Tutankhamun opened the second flower and Red Rum in a very good shape

here is a photo of AA last year on a very short first scape. I never took any other photos of the later blooms.

A lot of times the first blooms here are really saturated with color (lots of iron in the soil and water I assume) and after a few blooms or when it starts heating up more at night the blooms will lighten up and start looking more like they should.

Lots of sweet blooms in ATP today! Hurray! Thanks everyone for sharing in my joy over the first cross to bloom. I do love the creamy hosta-like edge, and wasn't sure at first if I was just imagining it. But by 2 pm the flower had picked up some more color, and the pale edges still seemed prominent, after a day in full sun. I'm hoping later blooms will continue to show the subdued edge, as I've never seen that kind of subtly edged double yellow before (I'm sure there must be lots, though), and hopefully it will improve on the center petals fluffing out and opening up a bit nicer. Group hug

So many of all of your pics today are ones I'd like on my wish list: scarlet orbit, red rum, some that are like Pam's grape-something, and deep colorfast reds and purples that look like heart stopper, king's reign and velvet throne. Lovey dubby I'm testing my darker shade cultivar in full sun this summer to see how the color holds up (hoping!!).

I wonder what June will usher in?! Green Grin!

Love that HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPO, Michele; and your AZTEC ART looks really interesting too -- I might have to start looking for those...

Today was a wonderful day for new (to me) daylily blooms here in Bakersfield.

WHEN ROYALS DREAM - Wow! I love this daylily, and it is very very dark. My camera can't seem to capture the actual color, unfortunately

INDIGO RUFFLES - This is a beautiful daylily and this picture doesn't do it justice.

VINTAGE VELVET - Love the intensity of color in the eye and edges on this one.

This is the second bloom on this NOID, can't show with the pic the true color or the true beauty of this bloom, I was not to impressed with the first bloom, but am completely won over by this second bloom. The picture looks a little dark, but the bloom is actually even darker.

Rhinestone Kid knocks my socks off. I'm a sucker for bright, saturated color. Favorites are

The top row of Tink's & the last one of hers. The fourth of hers shows promise; I think it will need time to settle in & get it's feet.

James, KISS OF PARADISE is beauteous (to me) just the way it is. I wouldn't want it any lighter. I guess just another case of individual tastes & my love of rich, deep color.

Ann, to my eyes it would look even better with a bit more pink to the eye. That's not to say it isn't pretty as it is.

Beautiful blooms so far for 2014. We are about 2 weeks later than last year in NC. Stella De Oro and Dot Dot bloomed 5/29 none since. Trying to wait patiently. Getting a daylily fix by looking thru the posts. Such lovelies.
