Chris, I forgot you wanted a Coral Cloud too. Have to go find one. I usually film that one when it's in bloom because it doesn't look like much any other time. But the blooms last for weeks and weeks. Hope you have a wonderful trip. Big Grin

Cheryl

I am, and I wish I could get here more often. I have company coming in another week or so and then I am off to my sisters's house for several days, so I don't see it letting up any time soon. I do love summer though, don't you?

Carolyn, Yes the variegated ones are very pretty. Apparently most everyone feels that way given the popularity of Snow Angel.

Cheryl, Heronswood Mist is beautiful, but tough to grow. It's very fussy about soil moisture.

Summertime is so busy for all of us. It's easy to let gardening become all encompassing and ignore other parts of our lives.

Finally found a photo of Coral Cloud. This is a shot from last year in late July. Unfortunately with our drought this year, the blooms on these were very short lived. In prior years, they've bloomed from May till early August. The leaves are plain green and in summer get a faint silver overlay. The attraction with this one are the gorgeous blooms, especially for me, in this spot which gets both total building and tree shade.

Stormy, you've got some beauties there! I can see why you like the Coral Cloud flowers - aptly named. One of these days I'll try to get your pictures in the database. Summer always flies by so fast and I never seem to get everything done.

Chris, I do most of my photo entering in the winter. There's too much outdoor work and watering to be done this time of year. It's all I can do just to get the time to take the photos.

Stormy, I think when I first joined your cubit, I posted a photo of some new beds my husband had just finished. I'm still moving hosta into them, but I've been lining the front edge of those beds with heuchera. They really like it there. Just a bit of noon time sun.

Good that you did it early on. One year I planted a bunch of Heuches in the late summer and they did fabulously all fall. The next spring they were gorgeous. But come midsummer, the late afternoon sun in that spot was too much for them when added to the heat. By the time that I determined that, most of them were beyond recovery. The area got total shade until about 3PM and that was still too much sun for them.

The only one that had a little transplant shock was a tiarella that was hiding under a huge hosta. He sulked a bit when I dragged his butt into the light, but now he's perking up - Hilarious!

Tiarella seedlings growing in the path way. I counted about 35 growing in the pathway. I think most come from t. Seafoam and t. Spring Symphony in that area.Thumb of 2010-08-05/woodthrush/52bd90
