I received a batch from a co op and promptly lost several of them. DH thought he would move everything around on the deck to trim the honeysuckle and I had a bunch under the deck swing in pots. I lost at least half if not more of my little co-oplets....

So, on my want list.....

H. Midas Touch
H. Autumn Leaves
H. Sweet Tea
H. Midnight Bayou

This is in addition to my want list that I already had:
H. Snow Angel
H. Chocolate Ruffles
H. Obsidian
H. Bressingham Bronze
H. Beauty of Color
H. Electra
H. Alabama Sunrise
T. Pirates Patch
T. Seafoam
T. Neon Lights.

I am sure as they introduce more, I will want more.

I lost most of mine from the ones I got from Ella's last group buy. Between critters and weather abuse they didn't fare well. I don't think I'll try plugs again. I'm trying not to add to my want list because I'm running out of room. The big tree in our yard that is providing most of my shade is not in the best of shape. When it comes down I'll lose 95% of my shade, so I'm trying not to get too carried away.

I'd have to say that I'd really like Fire Chief, Obsidian, Electra, Shanghai, Midnight Rose and Midnight Bayou.

I just bought some plugs from Ella. I keep the small containers from annuals and will put them in those and keep them on my patio, that way I can move them under the eaves if we get too much rain and the squirrels pretty much stay off the patio with the dogs around so hopefully they'll be okay. My plan is as they grow I can move them to larger pots and then plant in August or later. I bought my Tiramisu and Miracle that way and they fared well, only lost one Miracle in the ground. Normally I like instant gratification and buy the large plants, but I'll give this a try and see what happens.

Gee Chris, I sure hope you don't lose the tree and your shade. Here, I'm finding I'm getting more and more shade. It seems all my trees have really grown these past two years.

I have a big want list over on DG but it seems like many of them are not easily found in the retail community.

I've attempted many of the newer ones from co-ops at various sites but am not a great plug sitter:lol: I almost have to sit on my hands when I see new heuchera co-op start:lol: It almost seems like TNN is the only grower churning out new varieties. ARE there other places with different selections or do most of the retail/online nurseries buy their selections from TNN?

they do all seem to stem from TNN, but I think they are the only ones that are crossing different varieties to get new varieties. I would love to see their operation, wouldnt you? It must be huge!

I'd end up like one of those bad Willy Wonka kids trying to sneak something out in my pocket--"Oh, look--that needs the flower stalk deadheaded--may have some seeds on it--don't want to just toss it on the ground--I'll just stick it in my purse so I don't make a mess." Rolling on the floor laughing

LOL....I've got some area's that I'm going to make new beds.
I told my husband he would not have to mow if I used all the space for flowers and plants.

I have fell in love with all the heuchera's and I hope my luck at growing them improves.

as with any other plant, it is in meeting the growing conditions of the plant that matters. Some heucheras can take more sun than others, but it is better to err on the side of caution and give them more shade rather than less. You'll get the hang of it quickly and then you will want to collect them like the rest of us. I too have the same problem that others have mentioned in that I am running out of room as well!Thumb of 2010-08-05/Carolyn22/34102c

Thank you. That is the bed that I put under my Rose of Sharon. They are out my dining room window. I love looking out different windows in the house and seeing different gardens.

The biggest problem I have is having to go to multiple online sources finding the heucheras I want. No nurseries here carry many heucheras beyond the older varieties. Shipping costs add up.

Hi Dormantsrule, what beautiful gardens and heurcheras you have! The color combinations are really nice. I have the same problem finding anything new locally. And yes, shipping costs have changed my mind when wanting to order plants many times. What state do you live in?

Thank you much Goldfinch4. I'm new here and live in DE and find H's and T's do really well here. Actually I have around 30 on the list to buy! I prefer plugs as they are much easier to plant and have located some of them but $12.95 - $18.95 for a 4" pot is excessive.

I want

Welcome, nice to have you here! I'm sure you'll find lots of cool Cubits to check out.

Here is a place I get a lot of min from. They're not real cheap, but their plants are great. http://www.ilovehostas.net/cor.... But they're located here in Wisconsin so my shipping rates aren't bad.

30 on your want list! That's a bunch. I wouldn't have room for 30 more. Smiling How many do you have now?

Edited to add, I just looked at their website again and they have free shipping, but a $3.99 handling fee for any size order. Not too bad..........

Chris, - ilovehostas.net is where I bought 12 of the 16 I have a few years back. I just joined the plant co-op yahoo group but I think I'm too late for the heucheras. Last year I tagged some daylilies to be removed after the bloom season. I grabbed a bunch of 2 gallon pots from the back of the shed and in each I placed a daylily in the center then pieces of 4 different colored heucheras from cuttings around the dl. I have these lined up on my driveway and they get delivered to anyone in the neighborhood who is ill. I'm pretty busy so I just have block captains who know to just come up a grab what they need and deliver. It's 5 plants for someone with just the cost of potting soil using cuttings and plants I've "outgrown."

There are a bunch of co-ops and plant buys always going on in Cubits too, so keep your eye out for those.

What a nice idea to do with your extra plants! I bet those pots are treasured by the people who receive them. What a creative idea.

I don't have a lot of luck with plugs. Guess I'm not patient enough to take care of them decently.

Hopefully everybody's gardens will be waking up soon and this Cubit will start to get a little more active.

Your heucheras are beautiful - What is the red one in the first picture? Love that color.
