Thread OP

i am looking for a rose called Old Gold, it might also be called McGrady's Sunset. i had one, it got damaged and didn't survive. the McGrady's Sunset is available thru David Austin in England and they won't ship to USA. i bought an Old Timer but it is not the same. my website www.quiltsbyrequest.com has a pic of the gold rose on one of the banners and i can maybe find one in my facebook pictures if you need to see it. thank you.

There is an old (1913) one called Old Gold bred by McGredy http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... you can click on the Pictures tab to see if this resembles yours. It's old and looks like it's no longer in circulation.

McGredy's Sunset is a different rose http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... The 'Buy From' tab shows it only available in Europe and Australia (Vintage Gardens is no longer selling, that's where I took my images shown there)

Thread OP

that old print is definitely the Old Gold, i have no idea how i got hold of that one, seems it was at Lowe's or Home Depot (about 10 or 12 years ago) of all places. it got damaged, drove over when we moved my piano in, my husbands dog kept picking it to pee on and a chair blew off the porch and broke it. all info i found suggested that it was McG's Sunset and marketed under a different name. there's a picture of it on the "Tee's and memory quilts" page on my website www.quiltsbyrequest.com the form and color looks like the two separate old prints (one of the prints has a red rose and a gold rose) i have found. does that look like the same rose to you? if you know of another it could be, i would try to find it. i knew it was in europe but not Australia. does Australia ship to the US? i SO miss that rose and really want to replace it if you have any ideas on how to get one. i will never go to europe or australia so my bringing one home is not an option. if you will keep me in mind if the Old Gold ever comes available, i would appreciate it. i replaced it with an Old Timer and though i have grown fond of that one it's a much softer color (not GOLD) and it's just not the same. lol thank you very much. thank you for indulging my curiosity and my "quest for the gold!"

The vendors for the big box stores often change the names, they may have given it the name 'Old Gold' but it really isn't related to the actually named one, most likely more their description for selling purposes. So you may never know which one it really is. I doubt it was Rose (Rosa 'McGredy's Sunset'), too old and rare for something that a HD or Lowes would ever offer. My best suggestion is to try to find something similar that's more readily available. Shrug!
