Came in from a marathon session of cutting down the gardens and major bulb planting with DBH.
Fall Camellias and Fall blooming Viburnum. They had morning glories growing on them. You can see the seedpods which I need to harvest.
Tomorrow and Tuesday I will finish the few hundred remaining bulbs as it is to be in the 70's.

NOW.... it feels good, after calming the aching muscles with a long, hot shower.
Boy! Bulb planting should be an olympic sport! Must use every muscle group!! LOL!
I don't feel so bad, though, as I do remember, even in my 30's, I would end up at the chiropracter every Fall, so its' not just my age. hehe! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I'm lucky, the ground doen't freeze here. No need to mess with bulbs every year. My big clean up is in the spring, especially if we have a freeze during the winter. Most things are still blooming.

I'm with you, Jim! Though I did refridgerate a few liliy bulbs last year. The ones that were in the ground did well without, so this year they wont get any attention. I do look for a nice day in Jan. to prune my roses and peach tree , just to give them a rest and give the bulbs a chance at some sun. The only things I plant in the spring are my Earthbox and e-bucket veggies. The Earth boxes get 3 crops a year...got to clean them out for spinach and lettuce. Mostly, at this time of year, I just move every thing portable to get some sun. You folks with the big properties have no idea what it's like living in a mobile home park in So. Cal.!

I can imagine it's challenging though. I own a house in my nearby town which I rent that has a tiny yard. I figure when I can't bend over anymore, I can move back there. It will be more house than garden which is the opposite of this place.

When I can't take care of the garden anymore, I plan to hire folks to do it. If money runs low, I have long term care insurance so I'll just go to the old folks home and look out the window.

I may have mentioned that some MG buddies came over last Thursday and worked in the yard before digging into BBQ ribs with all the trimmings. This is a result of that work. The three trees are all citrus; pummelo, Wekiwa tangelolo and honey Murcott tangor. All distinct and all wonderful.

I was just fooling around on the Web and I found this on the Amorphophallus that I have. Check out that tuber of a 5 year old plant. Mine has been in the ground about 7 years now.
