I won't be planting there till spring. Right now I have to:
1. move 120 cubic feet of compost to the new tomato garden
2. rake up all the leaves for the 2015 compost pile
3. paint 60 more pieces of edging blue for the other side of the bridge
4. did a trench and set edging
5. clean up all the leftover debris from my winter garden
6. tie down the garden cage to the new supports I just had put in.
7. spray neem on the winter garden and hope the leaf cutter ants all go away.

I'm sure some more things will come up, and make themselves top priority

I just posted a ton of pictures of how things look around here right now. Winter isn't like in the North here, but things do turn brown, are going dormant and such. I don't garden so much this time of year, and let nature rest, yet!...We all can find beauty somewhere in our Winter landscapes if we look around. These pictures were mostly taken yesterday. For any who would like to see whats going on around here go to:

Have a growing blooming New Year! I tip my hat to you.

David, very festive and colorful and beautiful. I love the Christmas ornaments on sticks--your own creation? But now I'm thinking you should consider a move to the real N'orleans!

Those beads are from buckets of beads collected from actual Mardi Gras parades Jeanie! I lived in New Orleans for 21 years before moving back to Florida 6 years ago. We had a gallery and restaurant there for a combined 15 years of that time. I still have containers of those beads. Hilarious!

I will always love New Orleans. I should send pictures sometime of the landscape in our tiny courtyard gardens and of the place. It was a uniquely wonderful era in my life indeed.

The bead draped dormant Chaste tree will be beginning to leaf out by Mardi Gras;...and the beads will still be there. By Easter the colors of the beads will be fading pastel from the Sun and into the silvers. I think that tree will be interesting leafed out and blooming with the tall lavender spikes it creates at that time. Smiling

How wonderful that there's something in places threw out your garden that are personalized. Just lovely! Did you make your hypertuffa pots. Thought I'd give it a try this spring. They have such a natural look in the garden.

Hi, I'm just visiting over from the Iris forum Smiling I've enjoyed seeing all your gardens and getting some great ideas. I thought the Mardi Gras beads on the arbor was a fun idea. Very whimsical. Great job on that grape arbor. Thumbs up I'm wondering what material it was made of, and how it was put together? I've got my grapes on a fence, but I am quite fond of climbers of all sorts... I just need more structures so that I may acquire more. Whistling
