Good luck with the mockers. Thank goodness they don't scream all night and sing all day. That would be very bad!
Jim, you are so lucky to hang with those waders. I went many miles to see sandhill cranes! And I love the landlord. Hilarious!

These two birds have just arrived this week as well as the ruby throated hummer. The Baltimore Oriole hops around and often hides in the foliage so this is the first decent view I've had. They arrive with the fruit flowers. Then they migrate. Here're their songs and calls: http://www.birdjam.com/birdson...

And our summer house wrens have arrived. I always have their rental houses up before they arrive. They never stop singing! Here're their songs and calls: http://www.birdjam.com/birdson...

The sandhills, babies in tow, stroll through the back yard daily. If I am working in the garden. they will come right up behind me, sometimes scaring the hell out of me. Hilarious! They have no fear. They can also be a pest, poking holes in my boat tarp and pulling up freshly planted plants or plant ID tags. Grumbling

Here are some birds I don't see every day but perhaps a couple of times a month.

Yeah, now that I'm looking at it, it may be another cormorant. It's hard to tell when they are sitting like that unless you can see the over-bite. I'll have to look for an anhinga picture. They are pretty common here. It's fun to see them swimming. They look like a snake.

Love those hummers! My ruby throated hummers always arrive the day the flowering quince opens. Then they stay all summer. This Tuesday was the day the quince flowers opened and sure enough a hummer was trapped in the high ceiling of my cool orchid room with the door open. I tried for 20 minutes to get him out but then I had to leave for work. I was hoping I wouldn't find his little body on the floor when I returned. But it looks like he figured out how to duck out through the door. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Not a bird but this Gray treefrog (Hyla versicolor) visited the barn for a few days. He hopped up the stairs. And returned up the stairs even when I placed him back outside. He hopped around the hall for 2 days and climbed a wall and finally decided outside was better. He seemed to enjoy sitting in my hand for extended periods.

There is a huge swallow-tailed kite that glides over the house and lake from time to time. I've been trying to get a picture but he is making it difficult. Maybe some day if I remain vigilant
