Time to look at Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgandy'.
Everyone put your sleuth hats on and take a look at the entries in our database. Also look at Peter's site, SMG and any other place that sells this semp. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy')

The first and last photos in the group don't look velvety. But I can't tell if it is just the photo. Julia what does you Ohio Burgundy look like now?
@Lilydaydreamer could you get us a better close up of yours?

I very well could just be the photo. Smiling

The leaves also look longer and more narrow on the 1st and last picture.

I agree
1st and last picture look different....

but 'Ohio Burgundy' is very changeable;

if a plant grows quickly and with much water the leaves may become longer and the plants look more open - the velevety of 'Ohio Burgundy' isn't steady;

I think we need more and newer photos of that clones;

I agree mine looks different but last year I "think" it looked more like the other pictures ( they quadrupled in size since then). I will try to dig out a picture from last year.

Hi Lisa. Thanks for coming and helping with this mystery.
Can you tell us when that photo was taken? How long have you had this semp?

Julia how long have you had yours?

Peter those are all great points to consider. Also fertilizing can cause them to look different. Julia it looks like you may have acquired yours recently?
How about you Lisa? Did you get yours recently?

Julia and Lisa, would you take photos of the new offsets when they emerge?

Lynn,
my O.B. plant is a really slow grower, oldest 1 in my clump is 3 years old now. has never turned a solid red, just gets a slight tint of red. is starting to get a little more this year. it looks like your pic #4 in database. but has never shown that much red "yet". My 1st pic is a small plant, i took off the clump in April. it does seem to be growing faster and has a couple chicks emerging out. the last pic is a pot of Krebs that is same age and planted couple feet away from the OB clump in same dirt mix.basically same conditions.
and i got mine from Ohio real close to where Mr Schrooki had his nursery business

Julia, that is definitely Ohio Burgundy. The first year I had mine it didn't get much color, but did have the fuzzy texture. Then I almost lost all of the little bit I had because it bloomed out the year I got it. I think I did end up with one or two offsets that survived the blooming cycle.

Greg, Patties first photo is correct, just stressed out for some reason. Sure did a nice job of recovering. Hurray!

Now if we can see a nice close up of Lisa's plant, the mystery can be solved. I'm wondering if the close up will show the fuzzy texture that just isn't showing in the existing photo?
The photo is not very sharp, but it looks like the inner leaves are fuzzy?

Also, how much sun is this Julia and Lisa's OB getting? That can make a very big difference in color.

Mine does have fuzz... I will get a better picture tomorrow. I could not find any pictures of it from last year. Where is is planted it gets strong morning to noon sun then shade rest of day. Hope this helps.

They shade can cause it to not attain the same fuzziness or deep red. But in your summer conditions you probably have it placed for greater success at keeping it happy and healthy.
Thank you so much Lisa for helping us with this.
Just goes to show just how different some of these semps can look under different growing conditions.
I look forward to the updated photos. Smiling

Both of my pics on the data base are the same plant. This pic was taken on 3/15 a.m. and I can see the beginnings of the markings on the upper semp.

These 2 were taken on 4/7

These were taken today, 2 semps from the same clump as the above
