I am hereby declaring the end of Snork's Iris Season. While I still have some in bloom, the garden no longer looks inviting - only looks like lots of work now. Until the re-bloomers start, I will have to get my fix from catalogues, club sales and the occasional garden center impulse buy. Sob....

Oh Well.. Here are some of the last, later blooming iris from the hillside.

Very nice! Drooling

Thank for sharing your beautiful hillside iris garden with us! Hurray! I loved every photo! Thumbs up

On the other hand, I do find you guilty of causing excessive drooling, creating longer want/wish lists, and feeding the enablers! Glare ........ Sticking tongue out

Gorgeous blooms Pam! Thank you for sharing the photos. My iris bloom season is over so I am concentrating on making room for new irises, moving some noids to the noid bed and chatting iris online and soon getting ready for the rhizome sale in August...... and of course ordering new irises. lol

It's always such a let down to see that last one bloom I only have one more to bloom yet, and then I'm done too. I'm still running around trying to make crosses before they are all gone. This year my last one will be one that's a Mid season bloomer! Things got really mixed up this year for sure. But the lilies are starting to bud, and then the day lilies, and then back to fall and winter. Thumbs down Not looking forward to that.

I have one lone blossom left, Gypsy Queen [1859, Salter], a real surprise since this was the first year for that variety and it was listed as a mid-season bloom. Also this IB had bloom stalks up to 33" with many blooms per stalk.

For those who posted pictures, thanks much. For those who still have blossoms coming, keep the pictures coming also.

It IS a nice iris ! Mine was also a "new" planting (probably the same source as yours !) and has REALLY taken off! I noticed yesterday that there are only a very few buds, here, and there in the beds. As to the "tall' IB, remember that "back in the day" the classification system was different..... Shrug! .and THEN the AIS "corrected' it Shrug! ...Arlyn

Thank You! Thank You!

Thanks so much everyone! It is tough to pick favorites, I guess that is why I like iris so much - there are so many varieties and even within a specific one there are still variations.

Royal Orders was stunning. The photos do not do it justice.

I tried very hard to keep things deadheaded but I missed a few and now have several bee pods growing. I do not grow plants from seed -no patience - but if anyone would like any of them, I will provide a list of pod plants and save them.

Pam, I have a big bee pod on Dazzling Sarah and one on Thornbird. I had noticed hazeleyes had indicated earlier in one of these threads that she would love to have them so I emailed her. If my pods stay intact I will be sending her the seeds to grow. These formed before I noticed them and by the time I did they were really big. I have some on species irises too. wonder if they would be true to seed or if they crossed with a bearded. Them rascally bees..... hmmmmm........

Thank you, but no thank you Pam.

I have a few bee bods on some NoIDs. I just want to see if I can get the seeds to sprout. So if I decide to try to hybridize some irises one day, I'll know how to get the seeds going. I'd rather kill these seeds, then ones I'm hoping to see bloom one day.

Thanks for the great photos, Pam! Gorgeous irises. Looking forward to next year's bloom - and new ones! My dahlias are now blooming and they're beautiful too ! But I'm not quite as mad over them as I've been for the irises.
