I trimmed these back in April and now they are blooming and growing very rapidly.

Yup, Greene called it. Most likely this one:
Japanese Spirea (Spiraea japonica 'Dolchica')

The Spiraea x bumalda 'Dolchica' may have leaves different than I am seeing in your photos.
Perhaps yours could be Spirea bumalda 'Anthony Waterer' ?

It looks to me like it is the Japanese-Spirea-Spiraea-x-bumalda-Dolchica. The only thing that does not match exactly is that the plant is a little taller than 2 1/2 ft. This aside the pictures and discription match perfectly.

I did some research and found that this plant can grow to 36-48 in. This is defiantly a match. Thank you for all the help.

Since the @tiptonla pruned the plant and it is now flowering on current growth that narrows the selection as some varieties only bloom on the previous years growth.

Please look at the link to see what I meant when I said that the leaves on Dolchica are different.

Yours could also be S. japonica 'Neon Flash' which is an improved version of 'Anthony Waterer'. http://www.plantstogrow.com/zP... or S. margaritae (pink/rosy pink , a cross between S. japonica and S. superba)

Probably not S. bullata (red/pink flowers, bullate leaves, Crispleaf Spirea, "Crispa')

There are probably other possibilities. Thank You!

@greene You are right. The leaves are different (very different). I was going by the pictures on this site and assumed they were accurate. The S. bullata does not seem to match in appearance. I looked at the neon flash and it seemed to match, but I will look up S. margaritae this evening. Thank you.

Thanks. The S. bullata has dimply/bumpy leaves, so I agree that's not it.

I learned a long time ago that everything on the internet is not always accurate, even in our own database.
Since I started using a computer I am also learning that nurseries often label their plants incorrectly.

All that really matters is that we love our plants no matter what they are called. Lovey dubby

I looked up S. margaritae, Japanese Spirea (Spiraea x bumalda 'Neon Flash'), and several other plants, but S. japonica 'Neon Flash' seems to be the best fit. The description and pictures match. I am going to continue my research, but as of now I think these are S. japonica 'Neon Flash'. Thank you everyone for pointing me in the right direction and all of the much needed help. @greene @flaflwrgrl @plantladylin
