Admins,

I just submitted a new plant that I named; Embers Wish.

Please change the new plant to read:

It's a Species: buchananii hybrid

Thank You!

I don't think acorns are awarded for name edits...

Yes, they are, Dave. Hilarious!

They aren't awarded for new plant proposals or entry deletion proposals, but they are awarded for name edits.

I stand corrected; you're right! Smiling I checked the code and I see the acorn being given. Also interesting: you get half an acorn for moving someone else's photo to a different plant.

Yes, you do get half an acorn for that. We encourage corrections of all types!

I don't remember getting half an acorn before when I moved someone else's photo to a different plant.

I'm sure you must have, Marilyn. It's awarded automatically when your proposal to move an image is approved. If you skip the proposal and just ask a moderator or admin to move it, however, you don't get the half-acorn.

You also get half an acorn when you move one of your own photos to a different entry and you get half an acorn when you import an image (your own or someone else's) from one of the forums to the database. If you do import an image, however, please check to make sure it isn't already in the database. The system recognizes duplicate images, but if the image has been cropped slightly or altered in any other way, the system won't recognize it.

Zuzu I checked the code and have to give a small correction: you get 0.5 acorns for moving an image EXCEPT when it's your own image. You get no reward for moving your own image.

Also, on importing an image, it's the same thing. You don't get half an acorn for importing your own image. You still get the acorn for having your image imported, but you don't get the full 1.5 acorns. I hope that makes sense.

I have always seen 1/2 an acorn when importing my images from a thread. Blinking

It was that way for a long time but a month or two ago Jon suggested I changed it. He pointed out that people have an incentive to post to the forums first, then go import to the database, in order to get a 50% increase in acorn production. It was a good point so I changed it. You are now only awarded when you import someone else's photo. If it's your own photo, you should have posted it to the database first, then post to the forum using the db_image tag. Smiling

Well I never noticed the recent change because I never look at the acorn counts. I had noticed the 1/2 acorn one time months ago, good for Jon for suggesting the fair way of doing it! Thumbs up

Jon's right about that questionable incentive. Good thinking!

I proposed that two misplaced Variegated Sea Campion (Silene uniflora 'Druett's Variegated') be move and the data proposal was denied. They were shortly thereafter moved as I had proposed. To whom did those two .5 acorns go? They were not my own images.
