This is Plectranthus (Coleus) thyrsoideus, the fabulous blue flowering beauty that has been on display at Longwood Gardens' Christmas exhibits the past few years. Isn't it a knock-out blue? They refuse to sell or give away the plants at the end of the exhibit...all plants go into the compost bin. Isn't that a crime?! Where can we common folk buy this beautiful plant! Surely there is a retail nursery with it in their offerings?!!?!!

Happy new year, by the way, this is my first posting to this cubit.

Joseph

Alas, the famous "Blue Coleus", grown for it's flowers, not it's foliage.
Thumbs up

Maybe you could force an earlier bloom by keeping them in a pot?
I have had some luck with that on pineapple sage.(another late bloomer)

Would this Coleus (Plectranthus) respond to short-day treatments to induce earlier flowering, do you think?

Allison, How are these doing for you?
Wondering if I should order them or not.
I have a friend who could bring them down from Ohio if I order from Glasshouseworks.
