Sometimes the lists really surprise me. Black Walnut in this one for instance..... I would think the juglone would make it unpopular. Ponytail palm was a surprise too, that people like it so much, they grow in as a houseplant.

Very interesting list! Some I was expecting and some were quite the surprise! I was very happy to see Hot Lips Salvia in the countdown. I have a hedge of them in my backyard along the picket fence. They are one of the Ruby-throated hummingbirds favorite nectar plants in my yard. The "boys" fight over territorial rights to that area when they are over-wintering here in FL.

I currently have 11 of the 50 plants in my yard, but if I counted all the ones I used to have, I could add 10 more! Many I can't grow here in FL. but I sure wished I could.

Dave - I was surprised Crape Myrtle trees weren't in that list????!!! Blinking

For some reason, we don't have a lot of active crepe myrtle fans on the site so the Lagerstroemias can't compete with all the other nice trees that everyone is posting photos and comments about.

But, there's a rumor going around that I might be posting a top 10 crepe myrtles article this week. Green Grin!

I'll be interested to see the top 10 Crepe Myrtles. I've got about 12 different ones in my front and back yard and front paddock. They are so hardy and so pretty. Don't need to water them once they settle in and a prune in winter is all that I have ever done.
