I enjoy their genealogies. Thumbs up
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

On the supply/demand issue. Very true, but keep in mind that alot of the time the reason the supply is low, is not always because people are clamaring for it, but because it is slow to increase. Watch the LA, the prices can drop dramatically the second year.

Ive have never had a 150$ bloom in my garden..not even a 75$ bloom for that matter, even tho I admit to having paid it. Been there done that...no more. Also remember there is alot of photoshopping going on in alot of sellers pictures.

Might I second the request to see a picture of the whole plant, not just a close up!!!!!

Saw Rich and James were having some good luck with two of their plants. Love to watch when the bidding gets going. Im clearly not going to pay 300 bucks for a single fan of anything, but that red...oh that red Green Grin!

Every year I end up putting in multiple orders from Maryott and usually Tim Bell also. I can assure you there is no photoshopping going on with those two. The plant habits are incredible on their introductions. No worries about getting just a pretty face! Keep in mind I live in a harsh climate with extreme cold dry winters, hot dry windy summers.
Hurray!

clintbrown said:How long does it usually take for the price to drop? I saw a few on their site I like but I have $150 taste! Lol.

I have noticed that at least for Maryott's, the prices of their intros tend to drop within a few seasons. Not a hard and fast rule , but just what I noticed over the past couple of seasons.
A an Example : Infernal Fire Fall 2012 intro I believe it was 100 or 150 when it came out. Last Year I bought it for around 45 I think. This year it was listed for 32.00 And I see it is on sale for 22. BTW it is fantastic. Well worth the 22 if you don't already have it. Whistling

Now I may have to go back and look thru their whole site to see what else is on sale that I have no room for, but can't do without Sticking tongue out Whistling Rolling on the floor laughing
It's my cats world, I'm just here to open the cans.

Clint, I was really tempted to buy Asian Fairy Blue bird when it first came out. I think it was at least $200. That was in 2006. I just ordered it from Blueridge for $29.95. It's will still be just as nice a plant and I sure feel better about that price. Usually even 3 years makes a big difference in what a plant costs. Some plants that I paid more than I wanted to I justified the price by thinking I would sell half the next year and make some of it back. The problem is I never want to divide a new plant that soon and by the time I do, they are selling for much less. Afraid I'll never get rich selling daylilies.

I will never, ever pay $300.00 for a single fan of anything. I don't care how pretty it is, I cannot see paying that kind of money for a single fan, I would kill it for sure!

I got Rio Del Mar, Sherry Candy, and That Thing You Do Now I have to plan a new bed. One of my peach trees died this winter, so I'm taking that out and not replacing it, so I'm thinking I can make a nice bed in that area.

I was fortunate enough to get a fan of Happy Happy as a bonus this spring. I was very pleased because I had bought it last year and it died over our awful winter. I will definitely be mulching it before winter.

I put them at about 24 inches apart. Although I'm not a DL expert, others who have more might do it different. Also many of mine are in mixed beds.
