That would be beautiful Greg. Going out to check on the cuttings.

Still just cuttings. No sign of new growth. That may take awhile before new growth shows up.

Here is an update on the cutting experiment using the darker colored Hylotelephium Xenox, Bertram Anderson, Plum Perfection, Chocolate Drop and Blue Pearl. I am very happy to announce all are making roots and have produced new leaf growth, even 'Blue Pearl'. Hurray!
Xenox and Bertram Anderson have the most robust roots, all the others have smaller root development, but it is healthy roots.

They were started on July 12th, so that is about 3 weeks. I did use rooting hormone. I only looked at one cutting out of each pot, but all are growing new leaves.

This is fascinating stuff, Thank You! for documenting.

I've being doing some haphazard experimenting with my sedums, but I think I'm going to have to try this - I never thought of splitting one stalk into multiple cuttings. Seems like that would be a really nice way to thicken up some clumps. I love how resilient they are!

Question: How can you tell when a clipping is "calloused"?

I will take photos of a freshly cut stem, then another of the stem once it has calloused over. It can happen in one day if the weather is hot and dry.

@OFM instead of the cutting being "sappy" or wet, it will be dry and scabbing over - even allowing cuttings to lightly callous seems to be good (if you feel like you don't have a couple of days to let them callous more)
Lynn your cuttings all look so healthy! Hurray! Thumbs up
I tip my hat to you.

Thank you Greg. I picked up a new purple sedum today, Hylotelephium telephium subsp. telephium 'Touchdown Teak'. It has beautiful dark purple leaves.

Hope you are able to find it. If not let me know.

The darkest sedum I have is Chocolate Drop. There is no fooling around with changing the colors in this photo, it truly is that color. You can tell by the Blue Pearl and Elsie's Gold.

No, they are still very small. Came as plugs last year and I left them in a pot. So still really small. They are beautiful. When I sum goes down I will see what I have.

It took forever for my Chocolate drop to get the size it is now because I kept it in a container, until last year.

91° right now. I so want to go out and work in the garden, but I don't want heat stroke. Sad
