Frank, can you send dave a tree mail and see if he can help you figure out what the problem might be? I have no problem accessing the websites on the green pages so don't know how to help.

I can also get to any of the Green Pages websites I test. Might you have some browser security settings set high?

How are you planning to store the sauce, Frank (and for how long)? (I'm thinking you might be introducing bacteria from the surface of the raw pepper into the sauce, which has been sterilized by cooking.)

I was going to say the same thing. If the sauce is always going to be refrigerated, you would probably be alright. The sauce isn't shelf worthy once you put something like that in there. I'd just add some pepper powder to your sauce and see how that heats it up.

Thank you all. I will add some of your hot powder Tom when I get it. The people who will be receiving my sauce don't like it burning and right now I think it's perfect but maybe I will give them a "pinch" of your hot powder in a small plastic envelope. No sense giving away the good stuff. LOL

I just tried some Bhut Jolokia powder and Scorpion Mix powder. Thermonuclear! The Bhut in particular had a great scent and flavor, but I can't describe it. "Cheerful and sunny". The paper bags used as padding gave off that scent and it was enthralling.

I overdid my first test of the Scorpion mix, but it was survivable. Intense, but I'm not scarred for life. Huge fun!

I transferred the powders into a screw-cap medicine bottles, feeling like the character in Silkwood transferring Plutonium.

After tapping the funnel, a few grains of Bhut were left. I touched a finger to those, got about three grains, barely visible, and touched that to my tongue. Fun, exciting, only slightly painful.

Then I got brave. The glass of Scotch might have helped.

When I transferred the Scorpion Mix, more fine powder was left behind despite tapping. Silly Rick - "I can take it!" I thought. So I wiped up the very fine powder with a finger tip. I must have gotten MUCH more of the Scorpion than I did of the Bhut. Duhh! Of course, the Scorpion is also twice as hot as the Bhut. Double-DUHH!

I'm glad I went that far at least once, and the pain does disappear after 5-10 minutes. I ate yogurt the whole time and kept reminding myself of what Tom said: there is no tissue damage.

Even though I'm a total wimp, it was a lot of fun and now I know "how much is too much".

P.S. Scotch and probably any alcohol makes it much worse!
P.P.S. Once The Burn had commenced, just touching my tongue to the roof of my mouth made it hurt worse. I think I'm glad I was alone except for my cat: Becky would have laughed and laughed.
