I'm still here, Jim, IF you are referring to me. Do you want more orchids to update names? Whistling

I think the orchids are telling me that they love the new GH. I have spikes coming from orchids that I have had awhile and never bloomed previously. Here are a few pictures of today's blooms. Pleuro brevipes. Pleuro pruinosa. Zygostates lunata finally all blooms opened. And the last two are seed pods on the Pleuro brevipes. Apparently a pollinator got to them. nodding

And we are glad you're still there, Ken. You can send another batch of names, no problem. Just remember I am leaving for a ten day vacation in Peru on Thursday, the 14th.

Another rainy day here. I got soaked coming out of the gym this morning at 8:30 and it has been raining ever since. It feels just like Manaus, Brazil in the rainy season. I'm glad the orchids are under cover.

At my age, I'm happy to have Elaine and Ursula to remind me of what orchids I have. Rolling on the floor laughing Shrug!

Thanks, Jim. I'm not going anywhere unless ATP bans me. Whistling

Since you are in such a good mood, though wet, perhaps you could tell me about the following plants. These were among the first orchids I ever owned and this is what I have on their labels:

1. Lc. Drumbreat 'Heritage' x Sl. orpettii 'Eastwind'
2. Pot. James Clarkson x Pot. Miya's Glow 'Red Radiance'
3. Pot. Exotic Dream 'Orange Passion' x Pot. (Waianae Legacy x Waianae Majestic)

Thanks, Jim. Thank You!

Jim, Peru? Fun trip!!

Regarding the Trichoglottis brachiata ( yours) - that one just stayed in my memory because yours was such a lovely plant. I have two of these and I think my old one bloomed so many years ago that I would have to look up when that was. And then the top of the plant died off. But it sprouted a keiki and that one might now approach again blooming size. I picked up another plant recently and again the top of the plant/latest growth looks suspect. One of these days…..

Here you go, Ken:

Cattleya [C.] Corazón René (C. Drumbeat x C. Orpetii)
Rhyncholaeliocattleya [Rlc.] Crimson Sunrise (Rlc. James Clarkson x Rlc. Miya's Glow)
Rlc. Exotic Dream x (Rlc. Waianae Legacy x Rlc. Waianae Majestic)

Just a personal note on Jim Clarkson: He was president of the Tampa Orchid Club and curator of orchids at the USF Botanical Gardens. He taught a series of orchid classes at the Botanical Garden and I took them all. He was beloved by the orchid community in Tampa and died far too young about 3 years ago. His wife, also an orchid person, died just a few months later.

Thanks for the information about Jim Clarkson. Interesting stuff. Now the plant becomes a little bit more dear to me. I appreciate the updated names. That will simplify my labels for those two.

You're welcome. On the third one, the parent (Rlc. Waianae Legacy x Rlc. Waianae Majestic) is not registered which kills any chance of your orchid being registered.

My orchid club, The Tampa Orchid Club, completely rebuilt the orchid greenhouse at USF as our community project. Last month, we dedicated it in the memory of Jim Clarkson. That ceremony brought a few tears.

Still spitting rain outside. At least the temps are down due to all of the clouds.

Pretty much cloudy here too and the air feels "ripe". It looks like it could rain any time but nothing so far. The Mississippi Delta area got 3" of rain this morning and that's all moving our way.

I thought you might want to see the flower of the unregistered Rlc. Exotic Dream 'Orange Passion' x (Rlc. Waianae Legacy x Rlc. Waianae Majestic). The flower is beautiful (at least to me *Blush* ). I'm including the Rlc. Crimson Sunrise (the James Clarkson) and the C. Corazon Rene' that you named for me in case you haven't see those flowers.

Thanks again.

Jim, I have a strong feeling I don't even have a piece for myself. I think I sold my last one in 2013, and I have found no replacements since. I cannot believe that it was never registered and I guess that's why there are no AOS awards.

Mom just updated me that her orchid opened so I headed to the master bath to take photos. One flower is completely open and she said the others started opening this afternoon. This is C. brabantiae x C. Penny Kuroda.
