Welcome! Kyla, you'll find that ATP is full of a lot of great people, and a lot of really knowledgeable gardeners, too. Smiling

Thank you everybody! I've gotten real busy in the yard lately so my projects are proliferating along with opportunities to learn new stuff.

I'm currently living with a cousin, in her beautiful old house, where she has some established garden beds in need of a lot of attention and revivifying. That makes it sound more grand than it is, but it is a lot of area for just a back yard. And I am planing to expand the beds over this winter.

My cousin has become more and more welcoming of my doing pretty much what I want out there, and quite supportive and pleased with the results so far. Though of course it won't really show a lot til next year; still there are places where it already looks much better. She's basically too busy to give it the attention it needs and also gardening is not her passion like it is mine (or one of mine). Makes a difference.

*looks for a gardener smiley, but doesn't find one....*

It sounds like a lot of fun and creative effort to revive the beds! Smiling

It totally is. And hard work too. And of course, the more I do, the more I think of that I think needs to be done, LOL!

I will definitely share details as we go because I love talking about this stuff. Right now I'm needing to see about winding down for the evening before my posts stop making sense. Been a long day and a long week.

I'll be back soon. Maybe tomorrow. Green Grin!

Hi Kyla! I follow some PNW blogs and I think that our regions can grow many of the same plants. I think the winters here are colder but not by much. I've never been out there but the pictures always make things look so lush. In my imagination PNW is all like that, lush as a rain forest, sort of like how I imagine living in 1940 must have actually been in all black and white, just because the pictures are all B&W. Sticking tongue out

Yes, definitely we can grow many of the same plants. I have lots of PNW pictures, in color. Green Grin!

I am noticing differences, though, and not sure I can describe them yet. They're subtle!

This is a picture of my garden there, or part of it. I miss it!

PS: I'd love to know what blogs you follow if you'd like to share.

Hi again -- I am getting so far ahead of myself here, it's not funny! Or maybe I'm behind myself, LOL!

Catmint, thanks for the load of links; I'll look through them tomorrow.

Speedie, the cat is Nab, he is a flirt! I posted another picture of him and his big sister Lily, in the thread about dogwoods turning red, I think!

Got to go, my ice cream is melting. Catch you all tomorrow.

Hi guys! I sure see a lot of familiar 'faces' here on ATP. Funny how things work out. I wasn't thrilled with the Cubits site having so much other than gardening on it, so I stayed on DG. Lots of unhappy campers over there now though. Every good business has a life. Believe me, I know from experience. Anyway, hope to catch up with some Mid Atlantic people that I haven't talked to in a while.

Happy and Healthy Gardening!

Welcome! Wind! I never spent much time at Cubits though I was a very active DG member for a few years right before all that. Smiling

Life took me elsewhere, and now I'm actively gardening again it's delightful to have ATP as a gardening home online. Looking forward to "meeting" you. Green Grin!

Ooh, good idea, Wind! I remember reading that you're a health professional. Maybe you could even write some articles for ATP! Thumbs up

I just got some new acorns, too. Hurray! @catmind20906! Thank You!

I'm going to spend this winter uploading pictures to the database so I can enter their wonderful contests! I know critterologist won some semps last year and it looks like catmint won a bunch of acorns! Hurray!

Yes, I see you have a nice set of badges already! Thumbs up Well vegetables and herbs seem pretty healthy to me, but that's probably just an indication of how much more I need to know about this!
