Holly ... thanks for mentioning the stone work. I had to haul every single one of those rocks up to the house pad.

Robin ... thank you for your generous comment. I can see what I have accomplished, but I think I see the weeds yet to be removed more than you do .. Hilarious!

Holly ...

I forgot to add the link to the beginning of the story with photos of the buck:

http://garden.org/thread/view_...

I do think I might not be so adamant about not feeding deer, if it were not for the cougars.

It's 4am ... time for me to go back to bed.

Smiles,
Lyn

What a majestic animal, and so out of place. Definitely not what nature intended.
I went out this AM with my coffee, (Yes, it's that pleasant out), and what a racket from the birds. They were enjoying the mild weather too, just singing an chirping their little hearts out, sounded more like a spring morning. Thumbs up

Ric, you have described my feelings exactly. Unfortunately, he is what I call a "town deer" and is most likely more vulnerable to the big cats and probably an encounter with an auto than he would be if he lived in the back country.

However, he may be one of the deer that has come to town because of the drought, but he is not afraid of humans.

I don't know if you read the other links of the saga of the buck and the rabid goose in an earlier post on this thread, but I did have fun writing them.

Just saying hi over here to the Mid-Atlantic folks! I haven't quite escaped the Midwest yet, but I'll be joining you soon. I grew up in VA, and am buying a property in MD from my husband's family in the spring. I can't wait to be back east!

Welcome bitbit, do I recognize you from DG?
I'm asking "Where in Maryland?" You may be interested in our swap group get togethers.

There where in VA is a two-fer: I grew up in Loudoun County (when it was still more horse country than suburb), but spent the last decade in Hampton Roads.

The where in MD is Baltimore County. Looks like I'm about an hour from you Smiling

I wasn't on DG, but I was a Cubiter. We've definitely crossed paths, but I don't recall if it was here or there.

A swap group sounds great! I traded seeds on Cubits, but I didn't know others gardeners near me in VA, so I never did any get-togethers.

There is a very active midatlantic group--mostly MD, NoVA, & PA--that gets together regularly for swaps, etc. (always looking for others in neighboring areas to join as well!)

No bit bit we need gardeners to haul our treasured plants away. Hilarious! We have a spring and fall swap most every year, and a seed swap in Feb. in Fredrick, Md. There will be people you recognize from Cubits and here, that you can meet for the first time.
Also in Baltimore is the Rawling conservatory, it's a city park by Druid Lake and worthy of a seasonal visit.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I volunteer as tribute! I will gladly "haul away" some plants. I have a lot of land to fill! Are edibles common at these exchanges?

That conservatory looks beautiful! I will definitely be paying it a visit!

The spring swap usually has a nice selection of veggies and most have want and have list you can review and make request for.
