Me, too. I have several photos from last year with petal snow, but this year, my poor dogwood did not bloom as much. The drought did have a horrible impact on my trees. The dogwood is OK, but needs another rainy winter to really come back.

Lyn

Hi y'all!

I'm Marilyn living in the Bluegrass state of KY. I moved here when I met and married my wonderful husband, Dean during 1996. Before that, I lived in various cities in OH, being that I'm a native of OH.

Dean, between being an Air Force brat and in the Air Force himself has lived all over the US, as well as, three other countries. He's been flying, since 1977 and came to Northern KY in early Oct. 1986 for the now defunct Comair Airline Crying Crying Crying Crying Crying

I came through DG (user name = Marilynbeth) in 2006, then Cubits and then to the wonderful ATP! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

We don't have any children, but considered our two late bunnies (see avatar pic), our children. We got them in early Feb. 2002 and lost Cuddles (female) March 10, 2014 and Scout (male) April 15, 2015. Crying Crying Crying Crying Crying

We've been feeding the birds everyday, since Dec. 2000 and we have feeders and scatter birdseed on the ground, which the wild rabbits, which they are welcomed to. Of course, the squirrels think it is food for them.

I garden for Hummingbirds, Butterflies and Bees. During spring through fall, I've two Hummingbird feeders (front and back of the house) that I fill with clear sugar water.

I garden for Hummingbirds, Butterflies and Bees. As well as planting in flowerbeds, I've approx. 60 containers that I use every year during spring - fall. I pot up mainly Salvias, Agastaches, but also Porterweed, Cuphea, Zinnias, Pentas, Lantanas, Verbenas, Fuchsias and some other plants. Along with tender perennials, I pot up hardy perennials.

Here's my ATP garden tour in May 2012 to see a little more about me. http://garden.org/ideas/view/S...

My very favorite Zinnia! 'Zowie Yellow Flame' pic

Welcome to the Agastache and Salvias Forum!

Meant to say that it closed down on Saturday September 29, 2012, almost 3 years ago. Very sad.
He's been out of a job since then.

Veterans get housing loans, education assistance, preferential hiring when you apply for jobs and I don't know what else.

He was 60 in 2012 when the company closed and commercial airline pilots can only fly til they turn 65. He would either have to commute til he turned 65 (2017) or we would have to move to the base he would be stationed at. In aviation, airline pilots have to start at the bottom for any new job no matter how many hours they've flown or how much experience they have.

He didn't want to do any of it, so it was a "forced retirement".

I can appreciate him not wanting to go through all of that. By late 50s/early 60s, you feel like you've earned some respect in the workplace. Group hug Crying
