Spring In England, After the Worst Winter Ever Recorded!

By NEILMUIR1
March 8, 2011

After untold snow and ice, winter finally left and we had nearly two weeks of mild weather. Then the cold winds started and rain with it for what seems an age now. Unable to go out and do anything. I vowed that the first dry day we have, I would go out and get some pictures. That day was today and it was surprising to say the least. Snowdrops, still out with Magnolia, are just about to go into full flower. What a strange spring!

Great story Neil! There's a church right down the road, think I should try it???

Funny but your recipe did not sound so unusual until now that you mention no rising agents. I don't use any either. Not because I knew of it as any 'tradition', simply because I don't like pancakes as much if they rise up much and because soda doesn't taste good to me in foods.

I DO though typically start with the liquids and beat the eggs a little so this time I will try it your way.

However I do hope you found a picture of something that you like?
It is sunny here today and T shirt weather at 48F, which is warm to what we have been used to!
Doing a rck of lamb for Sarah and of course pancakes as it is pancake day or Shrove Tuesday. Lent tomorrow starts so what are you giving up!

Hi Eileen--- hope you are doing well after a cold Winter! I bet you are glad Spring is springing! Hurray!
Neil, what Is Pease Pudding??--- Is it sweet and yummy, or more like those Yorkshire puddings that you put with meat?? I guess it doesn't have Peas in it...? I do remember that rhyme: Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold--- is it like a soup??

Dear mum, I am making some granary bread at the moment but I will bring you a fresh one with some pease pudding for dads ham in the morning.
Glad you liked the walk, the pictures with the new lens were I think not bad!
I need some more practice with that lens! Unfortunately as you know, I have not had the weather to do so, to say the least!
Love.
Neil.

Dear CLUSIANA, a lot of the primroses got hurt in the cold after the mild weather. I will however try to find some for you!
They are not often in many places in the wild, as people have stolen them for their gardens, which is illegal now.
I will see what I can do.
Regards.
Neil.
